BGSU Tennis Win 27 Of 28 Matchups In Detroit Invitational

The Bowling Green State University tennis program competed in a two day invitational hosted by the University of Detroit Mercy that took place on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. The Falcons were unbeaten in day one of the invitational, and fell one match short from being undefeated throughout the entire weekend. The Falcons won 27 of the 28 matches they competed in.
INVITATIONAL FORMAT
• In this invitational, singles were played to two sets, with a 10-point tie-break for the third, while doubles matchups were held to only a single set without ad-scoring.
• By the end of the invitational, three rounds will be played for singles and doubles competitions. Day two marked the conclusion of the third round of singles action, and rounds two and three of doubles play.

SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
• BGSU faced Oakland in the third round of singles action.
• Senior Paula Comella lost her first match of the weekend versus Oakland's Ava Thielman. Comella was shutout in the first set, but picked up a 6-3 win in the following set to force a third for a tiebreaker. Unfortunately, Thielman clinched the set (10-7) and the match (2-1).
• Polina Radeva won her singles matchup against Dasha Artamonova in two sets, claiming both by a two point margin, 6-4, 6-4.
• Vanesa Pardo saw her matchup versus Sofia Bortuci go into a tiebreaker. Bortuci took the second set 7-5 to level the match, but the BGSU senior won the tiebreaker set, 10-7.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
• Bowling Green denied Case Western and Detroit Mercy from a single win in the second and third round of doubles play.
• The Falcons had no issues winning their matchups in six points. In fact, Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash shutout pairs from Case Western and Detroit Mercy for set wins of 6-0.
