Lukas Craggs Named HCA National Player Of The Month
January 07, 2019 | Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Lukas Craggs has been named National Player of the Month for December, the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced Monday.
This after he helped the Falcons post a 5-0-1 record in the month of December, including a sweep over No. 3 Minnesota State.
Lukas Craggs led the attack for Bowling Green in the month December. Over six games in the month, Craggs recorded six goals and two assists for eight total points. He had three game-winning goals and was a plus-nine throughout the month. Craggs' six goals were tied for most in the country in December.
A junior from Elmhurst, Ill., Lukas Craggs opened the month with two consecutive game-winners in Bowling Green's road sweep at Alabama Huntsville (Dec. 1-2), part of a three-goal weekend. Craggs then had a three-point game (1g-2a) in a 4-3, overtime road victory at Ferris State (Dec. 8). He would then cap off the month with a second multi-goal contest. He scored twice, including the game-winner as BGSU defeated Minnesota State, 4-1 (Dec. 15), to finish a two-game sweep of the then-No. 3 Mavericks.
Over his 21 games this season, Craggs has posted 13 goals, good for second in the WCHA and tied for third in the NCAA. He also has a league best plus-20 rating.
Lukas Craggs's efforts against Minnesota State earned him WCHA Forward of the Week honors (Dec. 17), before also being awarded WCHA Forward of the Month (Jan. 4).
This is the second time this season that a member of the Falcon hockey program has been named National Player of the Month by the HCA, as Max Johnson won the award for October.
The No. 10 Falcons continue WCHA play this weekend as they travel to Houghton, Mich. for a two game series against the Huskies of Michigan Tech University (Jan. 11-12). Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:07 pm in John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
