Bowling Green Bumps Up To No. 16 In USCHO Poll

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University hockey team moved up to No. 16 in this week's official USCHO poll, the highest ranking for the Falcons so far this season. This comes after the Falcons split with Lake Superior State this past weekend at Slater Family Ice Arena (Nov. 22-23).Â

Bowling Green defeated LSSU on Friday (Nov. 22) night by a final score of 5-0. In goal for the Falcons, Eric Dop recorded his second straight shutout, also serving as the second of the season for him and fifth of his career. Over the course of the game, Dop made 18 saves to secure the scoreless win. The Orange and Brown found the back of the net five different times in the win, including a penalty shot from Connor Ford. As for Saturday night (Nov. 23), Bowling Green fell 3-1 to the Lakers with Ford scoring the lone goal of the night for the Falcons.Â
Bowling Green is one of two WCHA teams in this week's poll with Minnesota State at No. 1. Northern Michigan, Alaska, Michigan Tech and Bemidji State also received votes.Â
The Falcons will take on No. 5 Notre Dame in a home-and-home series this coming weekend. BGSU is set to travel to South Bend, Ind. on Friday (Nov. 29) for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop. The two teams will then shift the series to the Slater Family Ice Arena on Saturday night (Nov. 30) for a 7:07 p.m. puck drop.
