UP NEXT FOR THE FALCONS...
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team wraps up the pre-holiday schedule this weekend, heading to West Lafayette, Ind., for a Saturday (Dec. 21) meeting with Purdue University. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will meet the Boilermakers in a 12:00 p.m. matchup at Mackey Arena.
• Saturday's game also concludes a stretch of eight consecutive contests away from home for the Orange and Brown. BG's last home game was Nov. 18, and the Falcons will not play at the Stroh Center again until Dec. 30.
• The eight-game stretch began, and now ends, with a game in the state of Indiana. And, BGSU also played contests in Illinois, West Virginia, Wisconsin and north of the border in British Columbia during that time.
THE OPENING TIP: TWIN FIGURES FOR THOMPSON
• Fourth-year Falcon Caterrion Thompson scored 16 points in Monday's (Dec. 16) game vs. Loyola Chicago. Thompson, who missed all of last season due to injury, has scored in double figures in each of this year's first 10 games. She joins an exclusive list, as that feat has been achieved only four times in the last 26 years.
• Thompson is just the second Falcon to begin the year with nine-straight double-digit games in over two decades.
THE STARTING FIVE (FIVE SOMEWHAT FASCINATING FALCON FACTS)
• Monday's 84-76 loss to Loyola snapped a three-game winning streak for the Falcons. All three of those victories came away from home, with a neutral-site win over California Baptist (in Victoria, B.C., Canada) and road decisions over Marshall and Milwaukee.
• With the three wins away from home, the Falcons have topped the total for all of last season. The 2018-19 club went 2-14 (2-13 in road games, 0-1 in neutral-site games) outside of Bowling Green. This year's team is currently 3-4 (2-2 in true road games and 1-2 neutral-site games) in games not played at the Stroh Center.
• Junior Angela Perry continued her torrid scoring pace in the season's early going. Perry had a game-high 26 points at Loyola, adding a game- and career-high 12 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double. Perry has five games of 20 or more points this season, after amassing three such games in her first two years at BG.
• Sophomore Kadie Hempfling had 12 points vs. the Ramblers, reaching double digits in scoring for the third-straight game and the fourth time in the last five contests. Hempfling has five games of 10 or more points this season, after totalling four such games as a freshman.
• Perry, fellow junior Madisen Parker and fourth-year Falcon Caterrion Thompson also scored in double digits at Loyola. Thompson, as mentioned, has 10 double-figure games this year after recording 11 in two previous seasons combined. Parker has seven such games this winter, after totalling three in her first two years. And, Perry's got six games of 10 or more points in 2019-20 after hitting double digits 10 times in her first two years combined.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE BOILERMAKERS
• Purdue enters Saturday's game with a record of 8-3 on the season. The Boilermakers downed Western Kentucky, 67-50, on Wednesday (Dec. 18). Purdue is a perfect 5-0 at home, 1-2 on the road and 2-1 in neutral-site games this season to date.
• Karissa McLaughlin has 12.6 points per game to pace three double-digit scorers, while Dominique Oden has 11.4 ppg. Ae'Rianna Harris has 10.8 ppg and team-leading averaged of 8.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per contest.
• Head coach Sharon Versyp's team went 19-15 overall and 8-10 in Big Ten Conference play last year. The Boilermakers returned 100% of their scoring, rebounding, blocks, assists and steals from a season ago.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons trail Purdue, 6-3, in the all-time series, and the Boilermakers have won the last four meetings by an average of 6.8 points per game, including a 57-48 victory in Mackey Arena six years ago, in the most recent matchup. BGSU is 2-2 in home games (0-1 inside the Stroh Center) and 1-4 in road contests vs. the Boilermakers over the years (series info on page 4 – box from last game on page 10).
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the Purdue matchup, the Falcons will close the non-conference schedule on Monday, Dec. 30. BGSU will play a home game for the first time in a span of exactly six weeks, hosting Davis & Elkins in a 5:00 p.m. start.
