Seimet To Participate In 2019 Women's National Team Open Tryouts
February 26, 2019 | Volleyball
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After being named back-to-back MAC Player of the Year and MAC Defensive Player of the Year, Bowling Green's Kallie Seimet has been invited to the 2019 Women's National Team Open Tryout for the second consecutive year. This year's tryouts will be held March 1-3 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Of the 218 athletes trying out, Seimet is the lone participant from the Mid-American Conference and one of 46 liberos.
While with the Bowling Green volleyball program, Seimet nearly rewrote the record books, breaking five records in her time as a Falcon. As a junior, she tallied the most digs in a match (45), most digs in a season (790), best digs per set average (6.81) and most MAC Player of the Week awards by a single player in a single season (seven). In addition, her digs per set average led the country and her total digs ranked second in the nation. Seimet continued her success into her senior season, becoming BGSU's all-time leader in digs with 2,365, while also becoming just the third Falcon to record over 2,000 digs in a career.
The tryouts will consist of four sessions with three waves per session. The first session on Friday will last from 4-10 p.m. ET, with Saturday's sessions being at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The final session on Sunday will start at 9:30 a.m. ET with a tournament style play, along with 16-18 athletes being selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff to participate in a "USA" training session. The Sunday session is set to conclude at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Tryouts will begin on Friday, March 1 at 4 p.m. ET with a live stream available to watch HERE. All sessions will be streamed live, with the exception of the USA training session Sunday morning.
