East Ties Program Record As Falcons Post Season-Best Vault Score

Corvallis, Ore. – Jovannah East tied the program record with a 9.950 on vault, springboarding the junior to a 39.175 all-around scored as the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team competed at No. 15 Oregon State Friday night. The Falcons also competed against Alaska at the meet.
Oregon State came away with the victory, posting a 195.825 team score. Alaska was second at 193.450 and Bowling Green was third at 189.500. As a team, the Falcons set a season-best score on vault and nearly broke the program record on the event.

THE VAULT
- The Falcons closed the meet on vault and scored a season-best 49.075, just shy of the program record 49.125. The Falcons had twice previously broken 49.000 on vault this year, peaking at 49.050 against UIC.
- Jovannah East scored a career-best 9.950, becoming just the second Falcon in program history to attain that score on vault. National champion Marny Oestreng reached that score twice during her career.
- The Falcons also got scores of 9.825 and 9.800 from Lauren DeMeno and Elena Lawson, respectively.
- BGSU also counted respectable scores of 9.750 from Katie Morsefield and Taylor Worthington.
EAST IN THE ALL-AROUND
- Jovannah East scored at least a 9.800 on three of the four rotations for a 39.175 all-around score, her second-highest of the season.
- Along with her 9.950 on vault, she scored 9.900 on floor and 9.800 on beam. She opened the meet with a 9.525 on bars.
- East took first place in the all-around competition at the meet.
OTHER STRONG PERFORMANCES
- Leslie Delgado scored a team-best 9.600 on bars, the eighth time in nine meets this year in which she has scored at least a 9.600 on bars.
- Rachel Creagh came up just shy of her career-best on vault with a 9.550.
FROM COACH KERRIE TURNER
- "I am proud of the team for staying together and working through the meet despite some challenges. We did not have our full depth in our lineups and we struggled on beam, but they never gave up. It was amazing to see them vault so well in the last rotation. The character of this team is strong."
