Furnas Homers In Series Opener At Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team opened its series at Belmont University with a 5-2 loss on Friday (March 1) night. The ballgame was played at BU's E.S. Rose Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
 
Belmont took a 3-0 lead by plating a single run in the second before a two-run fourth. The Falcons battled back with runs in the fifth and seventh, but a two-run eighth for the home team allowed Belmont to secure the win.
 
Senior outfielder R.J. Williams drove in Bowling Green's first run of the day with a single in the fifth. In the seventh, sophomore infielder Adam Furnas hit the first home run of his career.
 
On the mound, it was sophomore Jeremy Spezia's night to shine. Spezia fired 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball. The right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out one.
