BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Max Johnson and Alec Rauhauser of the Bowling Green State University hockey team have been voted Players Of The Month by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Max Johnson has won WCHA Forward Of The Month, while Alec Rauhauser has won WCHA Defenseman Of The Month. This following a pair of great performances through a month that saw Bowling Green win five straight games on their way to the WCHA Championship game and an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Max Johnson had a career month in March tallying 14 points on the way to collecting WCHA Forward of the Week Honors on back-to-back weeks in the process (March 11, 18). Johnson began his journey to 14 points with a goal and an assist in two consecutive games in BGSU's victories over UAH and Michigan Tech (March 2, 8). Johnson then exploded for four points in back-to-back games as Bowling Green completed their sweep of MTU in the playoffs before hanging six goals on Northern Michigan to start their semifinal series (March 9, 15). He then tallied one assist in both the WCHA Championship game versus Minnesota State (March 23), and the Falcons' NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional game versus Minnesota Duluth (March 30).
