SETTING THE SCENE
• The Bowling Green State University softball team reaches the halfway point of the  Mid-American Conference schedule this week. Head coach Sarah Willis and the Falcons venture to Oxford for a Wednesday (April 10) game against Miami University. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Miami Softball Field.
• Then, the Falcons will return home to start the second half of the conference schedule. The Brown and Orange will host the University at Buffalo in a three-game weekend series, with the teams scheduled to play a single game on Friday (April 12) and a doubleheader on Saturday (April 13) at Meserve Field.
TOUCH 'EM ALL (FOUR FASCINATING FACTS ABOUT THE FALCONS)
• The Falcons won two games at Ball State last weekend, capturing the three-game series with the preseason MAC favorite. BGSU outhit the Cardinals in each of those three games in Muncie.
• Senior Meredith Miller was dominant in her two appearances vs. BSU, with a complete-game two-hitter on Friday (April 5) and five innings of one-hit shutout relief on Saturday (April 6). Miller went 2-0 with an ERA of just 0.58 and a miniscule opponent batting average of .079 against the Cardinals.
• Senior Alex Sorgi has drawn at least one walk in each of the last eight games, and now has a team-leading 20 walks this season. Sorgi has reached base via hit or walk in 12-straight games.
• Believe it or not, Sorgi's current reached-base streak is not the team's longest. Junior Evelyn Loyola has reached via hit or walk in each of her last 13 contests, and has raised her batting average 158 points in that time. The last time she did not reach base came back on March 13, when she had just one at-bat in the second game vs. Oakland, and still drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
SETTING THE TABLE
• BGSU's leadoff hitter has reached base 41.7 percent of the time this season (98 times in 235 opportunities). The leadoff batter has gotten on base at least three times in 10 of the last 11 games, and in 22 of this season's 35 contests.
SISTER ACT
• Senior Alex Sorgi and her sister, sophomore Nikki Sorgi, have made a habit of getting on base this season. Alex leads the Falcons with a total of 33 hits, while Nikki is right behind with 32 hits this year. Nikki has a team-leading 10 multiple-hit games in 2019, while Alex has nine.
CAREER YEARS
• Junior Taylor Blevins entered the year with a total of nine hits in her first two seasons. This year, Blevins has tripled that number, with 27 hits. She is batting .325 this year to date.
• Sophomore Payton Hamm had four hits, including one extra-base knock, a year ago, but Hamm has totals of 18 hits, including 10 of the extra-base variety, in 2019.
• Soph Nikki Sorgi had nine hits in 2018, and has 32 this season to date. She has 11 extra-base hits in 2019, 10 more than her total for all of last season.
THE 2019 FALCONS: A QUICK OVERVIEW
• The Falcons are 15-20 overall and 3-7 in the MAC heading into Wednesday's Miami matchup, and BG is coming off of a series win at Ball State over the weekend. The Falcons are batting .274 to the opponents' .256 on the year.
• BGSU is 3-3 at home, 8-8 on the road and 4-9 at neutral sites to date.

She has eight complete games, one shutout and 119 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings, and has allowed opponents to hit just .227 against her.
• Parker is 4-9 with an ERA of 3.89 and one save. She has seven complete games, along with an opponent batting average of .278, and has struck out 65 hitters.
• A total of 20 different Falcons have made at least one start this season. Only Gonzalez and Alex Sorgi have started all 35 games.
RECORD WATCH
• Senior Alex Sorgi has moved into second place in BGSU history in stolen bases, and will likely end her career in that spot. Sorgi now has 61 career thefts, having recently moved past Jenny Ranz (57 steals from 1994-97) on that list. BG Hall-of-Famer Amy Lienhardt (121 steals from 1985-88) has a firm grip on the school record.

• First-year head coach Mike Ruechel inherited 10 players from last season's team. The 2018 Bulls went 16-31 overall and 3-16 in MAC play.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Miami, 55-54, in the all-time series between the teams, but the RedHawks won a pair of games at Meserve Field last Tuesday. BGSU is 37-19 at home, 13-30 on the road and 5-5 at neutral sites with the Redskins/RedHawks over the years.
• BGSU leads Buffalo, 27-12, in that series, and the Falcons captured a doubleheader in Western New York last season, winning by scores of 7-3 and 11-1. The third game in that series was cancelled due to inclement weather. Two years ago, in the teams' last meetings at Meserve, the Falcons swept a three-game series. BG is 12-7 at home, 13-5 on the road and 2-0 in neutral-site matchups with UB since the dawn of time.
