Bowling Green Up To No. 15 In Latest USCHO Poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University hockey team moved up to No. 15 in this week's official USCHO poll, bumping up one spot from last week's No. 16 ranking. This comes after the Falcons captured a win on Friday and a tie on Saturday against then No. 17 Michigan Tech, who fell to No. 19 in the latest poll. Â

Bowling Green defeated Michigan Tech on Friday night (Jan. 10) by a final score of 3-2. Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead and were able to hold on for the victory. Alec Rauhauser's short-handed goal late in the second period proved to be the difference for the Orange and Brown. As for Saturday night (Jan. 11), Bowling Green and Michigan Tech went to double overtime, seeing the Falcons net a goal from Max Johnson to claim the second WCHA point.
Bowling Green is one of four WCHA teams in this week's poll with Minnesota State at No. 1, Northern Michigan at No. 17 and Michigan Tech at No. 19. Bemidji State also received eight votes.
The Falcons will resume play this coming weekend, hosting No. 3 Minnesota State at the Slater Family Ice Arena this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 10-11). Both games are set for 7:07 p.m. puck drops.Â
