Falcons Place Second At Ball State Quad Meet

Muncie, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team rallied late to place second out of four teams at the Ball State Quad Meet Sunday. The Falcons sat in fourth after two rotations but posted scores of 48.525 on floor and 48.800 on vault to earn runner-up honors. BGSU scored a 192.725 to defeat Southeast Missouri State (191.450) and Wisconsin-La Crosse (188.375). Ball State won the meet with a score of 194.175.
FINAL RESULTS
BGSU had its best score of the season on both vault and floor, posting the best score of the day on uneven bars. The Falcons move to 3-4 on the season, surpassing the team's 2019 win total.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES TO NOTE
- Junior Alex Fochler took medalist honors on bars for the second consecutive meet. She scored a 9.800 to tie Southeast Missouri State's Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso. Fochler also had a 9.550 on floor – the first time she has competed on floor in her collegiate career.
- Freshman Taylor Jensen recorded a personal best 9.650 on bars. She also scored a 9.750 on floor, marking the third straight 9.750+ on floor to begin her collegiate career.
- Redshirt sophomore Samantha Marion tied for second on balance beam with a team-best score of 9.750. She also tied her career-high with a 9.825 on vault.
- Senior Jovannah East tied for second on the floor exercise with a 9.850.
- Sophomore Katelyn Goldstrom scored a career-best 9.800 on vault and tied her career-best with a 9.500 on floor.
- Freshman Lily Harsch established her career best scores on vault with a 9.675 and on floor with a 9.600.
- Junior Elena Lawson scored a 9.775 on floor for the second consecutive meet. She has posted at least a 9.775 in all three meets this year.
UP NEXT
- Bowling Green will compete at Western Michigan Sunday at 1:00 pm. The Falcons will look for their first conference win of the 2020 campaign.
- BGSU will return home Feb. 15 to host Illinois State and Temple at 2:00 pm for Diversity and Inclusion Day.
