Rauhauser Named WCHA Defenseman Of The Week For Third Time This Season

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced weekly awards Monday afternoon (Jan. 6). Of those named, Alec Rauhauser once again earned the Defenseman of the Week for the conference, being the third time this season he has been recognized, receiving the honor on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Rauhauser was also named Defensive of the Month in the WCHA twice, for October and November. Â

Over the last week, Rauhauser tallied four points for the Falcons, playing in three games. After not registering a point against Miami on Monday night (Dec. 30), Rauhauser notched an assist on Friday night (Jan. 3) against Northern Michigan before netting a goal along with two assists on Saturday night (Jan. 4). His goal on Saturday night came on the power play, marking his first power play goal of the season. On the season, Rauhauser now leads Bowling Green in points on the season with 23 and assists on the season with 16. Additionally, he stacks up to fourth in the nation among defenseman for points per game, averaging 1.05.Â
The Falcons will resume play this coming weekend, traveling to face Michigan Tech for games on both Friday and Saturday (Jan. 10-11). Both games will have 7:07 p.m. puck drops. The series is the second of the season between the two teams with the first series ending in a split.Â
