The game featured six ties and seven lead changes, nearly all of which came in the second half. UB rallied from an early double-digit deficit to tie the game at the half. The Bulls scored the first four points of the third quarter, before BG scored five-straight points to briefly retake the lead.
That lead changed hands several more times in the period, including when Brett hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds of the period for a 47-46 BG advantage after 30 minutes.
The visitors got a fast-break bucket from Fair early in the fourth quarter, but BG tied the contest on a Parker triple midway through the period. And, Parker answered a UB basket with a pull-up jumper that tied the score, 54-54, with 4:50 to go. But, Fair scored a pair of hoops to give the visitors the lead for good.
UB had a 44-18 advantage in points in the paint and a 12-0 lead in fast-break points. But, the Falcons made 10 three-pointers and shot 45.5% from the arc (10-for-22), while the Bulls were just 2-for-13 (15.4%) from downtown.
FIRST QUARTER
• The Falcons burst out to an early double-digit lead. Parker took a pass from Brett and knocked down a three-pointer on the first possession of the game. And, after the Bulls scored to make it a one-point game, Brett fed junior Angela Perry for a layup with the shot clock winding down.
• That Perry bucket began a 14-0 run for the hosts. Sophomore Kadie Hempfling spotted Parker for another three-pointer after a Brett offensive rebound, and junior Mari Hill's pass resulted in a Hempfling three and a Buffalo timeout.
• The timeout did not slow the Falcons, as soph Morgan McMillen hit back-to-back triples for a 17-2 lead midway through the quarter.
• The visitors forged back, scoring eight-straight points before Thompson hit a pull-up jumper in the final minute of the period.
• BGSU went 5-for-9 from the arc in the opening quarter, taking a 19-12 lead after 10 minutes.
SECOND QUARTER
• Glowniak posted up and scored – on a possession that she kept alive with an offensive board – to give the Falcons a 21-12 lead, and moments later, Brett's three-ball with the shot clock nearing zero put BG up by 10 points.
• But, once again, the visitors battled back, as Fair hit a driving layup, then a transition three-pointer that cut the BG lead to 25-24. Perry answered with a turnaround banker, and Brett's driving layup restored the Falcons' three-point advantage, but the Bulls got a triple from Aireal Dickson in the final minute of the period, tying the game at 29-29 at the half.
THIRD QUARTER
• UB scored the first four points of the quarter, but a Perry bucket was followed by a Thompson triple that gave the Falcons a 34-33 lead. Moments later, another Thompson trey put the home team ahead, 37-35.
• After the Bulls tied the score, Glowniak knocked down a foul-line jumper, but the visitors scored seven of the game's next eight points, with Onwuka's layup giving UB a 44-40 lead.
• Back battled the Brown and Orange, as Glowniak scored inside and Brett found Parker for a triple in the final minute of the period. BG got a defensive stop, and Brett was fouled with 3.9 seconds on the clock. The freshman hit two charity tosses to put the hosts ahead, 47-46.
FOURTH QUARTER
• Fair opened the fourth-period scoring with a transition layup, and Onwuka's pull-up J made it a 50-47 UB lead. Glowniak answered with a bucket, and when Parker scored from the arc yet again, the game was tied at 52-all.
• Onwuka scored again, however, and after Parker's pull-up jumper tied the score once again, Fair's back-to-back buckets gave UB the lead for good.
• After the second bucket, midway through the quarter, neither team scored for over three minutes. Brett broke the scoreless drought after BG got a stop, blowing by everyone for a layup when no defender picked her up.
• The Falcons got another stop, but a BG shot was off the mark with just under a minute to go. BG held UB again, but after a Falcon timeout , a steal by the Bulls resulted in a layup by Fair and a four-point lead with 15.9 seconds to go. A pair of late free throws closed the scoring.
