Rauhauser, Ford Earn All-WCHA Honors; 18 Falcons Named All-Academic

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced the recipients of the All-WCHA Teams as well as the All-Academic Team on Monday morning (March 16). On the All-WCHA Team, Alec Rauhauser was named to the First Team while Connor Ford made the Third Team. As for the All-Academic Team, the Falcons saw 18 named, the third highest total in the conference.   Â

Being named to the All-WCHA First Team, Rauhauser was one of three named to the All-WCHA teams that was a member of the 2016-17 All-WCHA Rookie Team. The Bowling Green captain totaled a team-high 35 points on the season, being in the top 10 in the nation for points per game by a defensemen. Having suited up in the Orange and Brown on 159 occasions, Rauhauser is also tied for the nation's lead among active players for games played.Â
Joining Rauhauser on the All-WCHA teams, Ford was named to the All-WCHA Third Team, his first All-Conference recognition. On the season, Ford finished second on the team in points with 34, while scoring nine power play goals, which tied for the team lead and for fifth in the nation. Ford also is one of three Falcons to total more than 20 assists this season having registered 22.

The Falcons also excelled in the classroom, seeing 18 athletes named to the WCHA All-Academic Team, the third most behind just Minnesota State (19) and Michigan Tech (20). To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed one year of eligibility at their present institution prior the the current academic year with a grade point average of 3.0 or above for the prior two semesters, or may qualify if their overall GPA is 3.0 or better for all terms at the present institution.Â
