Tennis To Take On Indiana Tech At Perrysburg Tennis Center This Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University tennis program will return to the home courts at Perrysburg Tennis Center to host Indiana Tech for a 2 p.m. first serve. The Falcons will enter riding having won back-to-back matches and three of the last four. The Orange and Brown will also went undefeated at home, being 2-0, and 5-3 overall on the season. The match will be the first of two consecutive home matches for the Falcons, next facing Oakland on March 13 at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
Last weekend, the Falcons took part in the Illinois State Invitational, claiming two 4-2 victories en route to winning the tournament championship. The weekend began on Saturday with the first of the two wins, coming against Milwaukee. After falling in doubles play, the Falcons rallied back to win four singles matches to take the win and advance to the tournament championship. In the championship, Bowling Green went head-to-head with host Illinois State, coming away with another 4-2 win and the tournament championship. Winning in singles on Saturday and doubles both days, Ayumi Sasaki was named the tournament MVP.Â
Warding Off The Warriors
Indiana Tech will enter Friday's contest on the cusp of a hot streak, winning their last two matches against No. 23 Cumberland University and Aquinas College with their last lost being back on Feb. 8 to Tiffin University. The lost the the Dragons was just one of two this season for the Warriors as they stand at 7-2 overall with the other loss being No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan. Last season, the Falcons also hosted Indiana Tech, coming away with a 7-0 sweep.Â

On the all-time singles wins list, Marharita-Sophia Tavpash has an opportunity to move into a tie for 26th all-time with Devon Bissinger (1999-2002). One more singles win would put Tavpash at 56 for the tie. As for doubles, Tavpash could take sole possession of seventh all-time, currently in a three-way tie with 74 wins. Finally, Tavpash can tie for as high as 16th all-time for combined wins with two possible. Currently with 129, two wins would put her at 131 which would be tied with Ashley Jakupcin (2004-07) and Mary Hill (2011-13).Â
