Falcons Suffer Heartbreaking 6-4 Saturday Loss

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team held a 4-1 lead on Saturday (March 7) at Saint Louis University, but the Billikens scored five runs over the final three frames to steal a 6-4 decision from the Falcons. SLU hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to capture the walk-off win.
Tyler Hays pitched lights out for Bowling Green. The right-hander allowed one unearned run over 5.1 innings of work. Hays struck out four, walked one, and scattered six hits. SLU scored its unearned run in the first, but BGSU answered with a four-run fourth.
Adam Furnas doubled down the right-field line to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead. Tyler Ross then singled up the middle to bring home two more runs for the Orange and Brown.
Saint Louis scored two runs in the seventh, and then tied the game with a single run in the eighth. The Billikens posted 10 hits compared to BGSU's four.
Furnas, Jake Wilson and Kyle Gurney each went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Ross had the other hit for the Falcons. Dylan Dohanos and Mike Malewitz each drew a walk.
The Falcons will conclude the series on Sunday (March 8) a 1 p.m. first pitch.
