Bowling Green, Ohio -- For a week, we asked our fans to vote for their favorite student-athletes of the past 20 years. Throughout the month of September, we will reveal one selection at a time each weekday over a five-week stretch. Today, we highlight your No. 19 choice for the top student-athlete of the past 20 years, football player Chris Jones!
19. Chris Jones (2009 - 2012)

A native of Brownsburg, Indiana, Chris Jones was a force to be reckoned with when he lined up on the other side of the offense.

Jones played in 50 consecutive games for the Falcons, including 44 consecutive starts. His accolades began when he was named to the All-MAC Third Team in 2010, and National Defensive Lineman of the Week and MAC East Defensive Player of the Week after recording 3.5 sacks, 5.0 tackles for loss, six tackles and a fumble recovery in a win at Central Michigan.

Jones was named to the First Team All-MAC in 2011 on top of being a co-captain. He was twice named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week and finished the season tied for the league lead in sacks with 8.5, to go with 14.0 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.

A team captain in 2012, Jones earned MAC Defensive Player of the Year and was named All-MAC First Team for a second consecutive year after recording 42 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 19.0 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He finished third in the country for his sack totals and tied for seventh in tackles for loss. Jones had a sack in eight straight games during the 2012 campaign, as well as tackles for loss in 10 of 12 games, earning him MAC East Defensive Player of the Week three times.

Jones was also voted First Team All-America by the FWAA, and Third Team All-American by the AP in 2012.
