SETTING THE SCENE – BGSU ENDS JANUARY WITH TWO-GAME HOMESTAND
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team, coming off of a 35-point win on the road, returns home for the final two games of January, beginning Wednesday evening (Jan. 27). Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will meet Western Michigan University, with tipoff at 6:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.
• The Falcons are riding a three-game winning streak, including Saturday's (Jan. 23) 87-52 win at Miami. BGSU, now 11-3 overall, has surpassed the win total for all of last season. And, the Falcons have more than doubled last year's MAC win total, with a 7-2 league ledger heading into the WMU game.
• A total of 13 different Falcons made at least one field goal in the win at Miami, as BGSU led by scores of 22-4 after one quarter, 46-14 at halftime and 70-28 after three periods.

WELL THEN...
• As Jon Lovitz's character said in A League of Their Own, "Well then, this would be more, wouldn't it?" The Falcons' 87-52 win at Miami on Saturday afternoon gives BGSU a 7-2 record in Mid-American Conference play, good for second place in the 12-team league.
• BGSU has more than doubled the program's MAC win total from last season, and the Falcons have surpassed the total for the last two years combined. BG went 3-15 in MAC play last season and 2-16 the previous winter.
11 AND 3
• BGSU is now 11-3 overall. After 14 games, the Falcons have surpassed the overall win total for all of last season. The 2019-20 club finished with a 10-21 mark.
• BG had not won more than 10 games in three years, since the 2017-18 club went 11-19, and the Falcons have not had more than 11 victories in seven years, since posting a 30-5 record in 2013-14.
HEMPFLING MOVES INTO A TIE FOR NINTH
• Junior Kadie Hempfling's fourth and final assist in Saturday's win at Miami was the 304th of her career. Hempfling, just a junior and not the team's point guard, has moved into a tie for ninth place on the BGSU career assists list.
• Hempfling has tied Judit Lendvay, who had 304 assists from 1989-93. Her next target is eighth-place Cathy Koch, who dished out 347 assists from 1988-92.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE BRONCOS
• Western Michigan is 2-8 on the season, and the Broncos are 1-7 in MAC play entering Wednesday's game. Last week, WMU defeated Miami by double digits, 70-54, before dropping a narrow 69-63 decision to Ohio.
• Reilly Jacobson leads the team with 13.4 points per game, and also has 6.6 rebounds per contest. Taylor Williams has 11.0 ppg and a team-leading 9.0 rpg, and Sydney Shafer has 10.9 points per contest.
• The Broncos are 2-3 at home and 0-5 on the road this season to date. In the MAC, WMU is 1-3 in Kalamazoo and 0-4 away from home. Head coach Shane Clipfell welcomed back seven letterwinners from a 2019-20 club that finished with an overall record of 18-13 and a MAC mark of 10-8.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Western Michigan, 37-35, in the all-time series, and BG captured this year's first meeting, winning in Kalamazoo by a 73-48 score three weeks ago (Jan. 6, 2021). In the last meeting at the Stroh, BG came away with a 72-63 victory last January. The Broncos then won the next two 2019-20 meetings, including a 69-55 February win and an 84-67 March triumph in Kalamazoo. The latter game came in the MAC Tournament.
• BGSU is 19-14 in home games, 15-20 in road contests and 3-1 in neutral-site events vs. the Broncos over the years. Much more series information can be found on page 22 of the PDF version of these notes (link is above).
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the WMU game, the Falcons will host Toledo on Saturday (Jan. 30). Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at the Stroh.
