Stoever, Swankler Named CCHA Players Of Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Central Collegiate Hockey Association has recognized four student-athletes as its Players of the Week for the most recent week of competition. Bowling Green had two players recognized, with Christian Stoever earning CCHA Goalie of the Week and Austen Swankler earning CCHA Rookie of the Week. This is Stoever's first weekly award of the season. Swankler, the CCHA Rookie of the Month in November, has earned a weekly award three times this season. This is the second time BGSU has had multiple weekly award winners, with Swankler and Gabriel Chicoine earning recognition in October.
CCHA Goalie of the Week: Christian Stoever, Freshman, Bowling Green
Freshman Christian Stoever spent nearly four periods in net for the Bowling Green Falcons, allowing just one goal in 78:48 of game time. Stoever was the netminder in the third period on Friday, making 11 saves. The following night, he spent the entire game between the pipes and made a career-best 41 saves, including 18 in the third period. Stoever held the Falcons to a 2-1 victory on Saturday, finishing the weekend with 52 saves, a .981 save percentage, and .076 GAA.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Austen Swankler, Forward, Bowling Green
Austen Swankler led the Bowling Green Falcons with four points on the weekend, registering back-to-back multi-point efforts. On Friday, Swankler tallied two assists, both on power play goals from Alex Barber. The following night, Swankler earned the assist on Nathan Burke's game-tying goal, then scored the game-winning goal for the second time this season. Swankler leads the Falcons with 18 points this year. He also had five multi-point performances.

The Falcons will continue the 2021 portion of their schedule with a home-and-home series against Ohio State. The Falcons and Buckeyes will face off at 7 p.m. in the Schottenstein Center on Thursday, Dec. 16. The series heads to Slater Family Ice Arena the following night (Dec. 17), with puck drop slated for 7:07 p.m.
