Falcons Win Three MAC Titles, Place Third At MAC Track Championships
February 27, 2021 | Women's Track and Field
Mount Pleasant, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University indoor track and field team earned three Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday and the Falcons posted their best MAC Championship finish since 1999 this weekend. BGSU scored 86 points and placed third overall at the MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
For Bowling Green, the 86 points represents an 18-point increase from a year ago and is the most since the team scored 110 to win the MAC title in 1999. The third place finish equals the team's result from 2018, which is the only top three finish for the program since that 1999 championship.
Savannah Nevels won the 200 and Iyanna Ross won the 400 for individual titles Saturday. Those two added another MAC title later in the evening as they partnered with Ryen Draper and Chasatea Brown to win the 1600 relay. It is the second consecutive year in which the program won that event with Nevels, Ross and Draper all competing on the relay in both seasons.
Combined with Friday night's victory in the distance medley relay, Bowling Green swept the relay races at the MAC Championships. It is the first time in program history that the Falcons have swept those two relay races.
