Schneider Logs Hat Trick As Falcons Begin Postseason Play

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The No. 13 Bowling Green State University hockey made a comeback effort on Friday (March 12) against Northern Michigan in the first game of the best-of-three series in the WCHA Quarterfinals. Taylor Schneider tallied a hat trick, scoring all three of Bowling Green's goals, including two in the third period. Despite the late push, the Falcons came up short in the 4-3, seeing Northern Michigan take the series lead at 1-0. The two teams will be back on Saturday (March 13) for a 7:07 p.m. start with Sunday (March 14) at 5:07 p.m. set for game three should the Falcons force a rubber-match. Both games are set to be streamed on FloHockey as well.Â

Next Home Game: The BG Falcon Hockey team will be back at the Slater Family Ice Arena on Saturday (March 13) to host the second game of the WCHA Quarterfinals series against Northern Michigan. The game is set for a 7:07 p.m. puck drop and will be available to stream on FloHockey.Â
Scoring Plays
- In the first period the Falcons were able to net the first score of the game with Taylor Schneider netting the puck with assists from Tim Theocharidis and Sam Craggs.Â
- In the second period, Northern Michigan answered with a power play goal from Alex Frye and assists from Michael Van Unen and Brandon Schultz.Â
- Less than a minute later, the Wildcats saw a goal from Michael Colella, unassisted, to take the lead.Â
- Northern Michigan added another power play goal in the second period, this one from Griffin Loughran and assists to A.J. Vanderbeck and Van Unen.Â
- Before the end of the period, Schultz scored a goal of his own for the Wildcats with an assist from Vanderbeck.Â
- In the third period, the Falcons came out and scored less than two minutes into the period seeing Schneider net his second goal of the night with Justin Wells and Cameron Wright logging the assists.Â
- Later in the period, Scheneider scored again for his third goal to complete the hat trick on the night. Will Cullen and Theocharidis logged the assists.Â
Falcon Stat Facts
- Assisting on the second Falcon goal of the game, Cameron Wright became the 76th player in program history, and third this season, to reach 100 career points. Wright reaches the mark with an even 50 goals and 50 assists. This now marks the first time since the 1996-97 season that the Falcons have rostered four active 100-point scorers.Â
- Scoring all three of the goals for the Falcons, Taylor Schneider recorded the first hat trick by a Falcon against a league opponent since Kevin Dufour had three in a 4-3 overtime win against Bemidji State on March 10, 2017. The hat trick was also Bowling Green's second-ever hat trick in a WCHA playoff game and just the fifth by anyone in a WCHA playoff game since 2011.Â
- Assisting on two of Schneider's goals, Tim Theocharidis registered his fourth multiple-point game of the season and his second multiple-assist outing this year.Â
