BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team dropped a pair of low-scoring tight ballgames in a non-conference doubleheader at Western Kentucky University on Saturday (March 13) afternoon. The weekend series is taking place at WKU's Nick Denes Field. The four-game series will conclude tomorrow with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
Â
Tyler Hays got the start for the Falcons in the first game of the day. The right-hander was making just his second start on the season. Hays impressively worked himself out of a couple early jams, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings, ultimately departing the contest in a 1-0 game. Freshman Landon Willeman tossed 1.1 innings of perfect baseball to keep the contest within reach for Bowling Green.
Â
Adam Fallon led the charge offensively for the Falcons, posting two hits, including an RBI single in the sixth that pulled BGSU within three runs at 4-1. Tyler Ross, Jared Johnson, and Jack Krasue also registered hits for the Orange and Brown.
Â
In the sixth inning of game two, it was Krause again in the thick of things. After Adam Furnas and Tyler Haas sparked the inning with consecutive singles, Krause tied the game at 1-1 with a single to right field. Dylan Dohanos and Ross each recorded hits for the Falcons in the night cap. WKU went on to plate two runs in the bottom half of the sixth to claim the 3-1 win.
Â
Rigo Ramos got the start in the second game and pitched brilliantly. The southpaw yielded just five hits and one run over 5.0 innings on the bump. The sophomore struck out one and only issued one free pass.

COACH HALLOCK QUOTE
"This series has two similar style teams. Through the first THREE games they're playing the better, more complete game. The biggest difference in the outcome to this point has been their two-hole hitter, Zuberer. He's produced in major spots of all three games and is an impact guy. Right now, we need more guys to step up at the plate and in the bullpen for us to get back in the win column.
Â
"Tyler Hays pitched very competitively today. His stuff is increasing by the week. It was a boost for us to watch him get nasty in some tight situations. Landon Willeman did an outstanding job in his appearance. For a freshman to roll up four outs on 11 pitches, with two of them being strikeouts, shows everyone he's ready to contribute in a major way. Rigo Ramos in game two was really good, as well. He forced their lineup into uncomfortable spots and also wiggled out of trouble throughout his outing. He's figuring out how to navigate the lineup multiple times. The starting pitching between Abrahamowicz, Hays and Ramos is very encouraging, as is some of the bullpen. It's Gage Schenk's turn tomorrow to follow their lead and perform at our standard."
