
Sullivan, Brett Named Medical Mutual Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are soccer player Chris Sullivan and basketball player Elissa Brett.
Male Athlete of the Week
Chris Sullivan, a senior from Naperville, Ill., scored a 'Golden Goal' in BGSU's lone match of the week. Sullivan headed home a cross in the 95th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 win over nationally-ranked and previously unbeaten SIUE. He had five shots in the match, as BGSU outshot the Cougars, 19-1. Sullivan now has a team-high eight points through six matches this season, including two goals (tied for the team lead) and four assists (most on the team). He now has career totals of 13 goals, 17 assists and 43 points, leading active Falcons in all three categories. Sullivan has been directly involved in the scoring of all six BGSU goals on the season.

Elissa Brett, a sophomore for Adelaide, Australia, led the Falcons in scoring and rebounding last week, averaging 17.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as BGSU advanced to the MAC Tournament's championship game. She was named to the MAC's All-Tournament Team. Brett posted double-doubles in each of the Falcons' two wins, with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern Michigan, and game-high totals of 20 points and 13 boards vs. Buffalo. She recorded double-doubles in each of her first three career MAC Tournament games. In the championship against Central Michigan, Brett led the Falcons with 18 points. On the year, she has 12.1 points and a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per game.
