Senior earns honor for second time this season, also named to College Soccer News National Team of Week
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Chris Sullivan has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Monday afternoon (March 15). Sullivan earns the honor for the second time this season, and the second time in his Falcon career.
Sullivan has earned co-Player-of-the-Week accolades from the conference, sharing this week's honor with Nick Markanich of Northern Illinois.
On Monday, Sullivan was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, earning that honor for the second time this season as well.
And, on Tuesday, he earned honorable mention on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
Sullivan, a native of Naperville, Ill. (North), scored a 'Golden Goal' in BGSU's lone match of the week. Sullivan headed home a cross in the 95th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 win over nationally-ranked and previously unbeaten SIUEÂ at Cochrane Stadium on Sunday afternoon (March 13). He had five shots in the match, as BGSU outshot the Cougars, 19-1.
Sullivan now has a team-high eight points through six matches this season, including two goals (tied for the team lead) and four assists (most on the team). He has been directly involved in the scoring of all six BGSU goals on the year.
Sullivan now has career totals of 13 goals, 17 assists and 43 points, leading active Falcons in all three categories. He and the Falcons now have a record of 21-12-3 over the last 36 matches, dating to late in the 2018 season.
Sullivan and the Falcons return to the road for the next two matches. BGSU (3-3-0, 1-1-0 MAC) will face West Virginia on Wednesday afternoon (March 17) in Morgantown, with first touch set for 3:00 p.m. Then, the Orange and Brown will face NIU on Sunday (March 21) in DeKalb.
