Each week, the BGSU Strategic Communications Department breaks down the week ahead in athletics and recaps the week gone by. Listed below are all games over the course of the next seven days with links and information for fans. Following that info are recaps, scores and links from games over the past week.

It's a busy week for the men's golf team, as the Falcons will compete in two events over a seven-day period. First, Bowling Green will stay in the state of Ohio and travel south for the Dayton Flyer Invitational (April 12-13). Nick Hofland, Tom North, Dylan Fitchet, Ian Mackenzie-Olson and Brandon Rattray will compete for the Orange and Brown in Kettering, Ohio to get the week going. The field at the Dayton Flyer Invitational includes: Bowling Green, Bradley, Cleveland State, Dayton, DePaul, IUPUI, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Youngstown State, Wright State. Penn State is hosting the 14-team field (Bowling Green, Connecticut, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, George Mason, Georgetown, James Madison, Kent State, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, Oakland, Penn State, Rutgers and Seton Hall) at the Rutherford Intercollegiate over April 17-18.Â

The men's soccer Falcons are in first place in the MAC as the final week of the regular season begins. BGSU and Akron were tied atop the conference heading into Sunday's (April 11) match, before the Falcons picked up a 1-0 overtime victory on Vinny Worner's 'Golden Goal' in the 97th minute. The Falcons' reward for an important victory over a tough opponent? Two more tough matches this week, as West Virginia and Northern Illinois come to Cochrane Stadium on Wednesday and Sunday afternoon, respectively. The WVU match begins at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the NIU contest is set for a 12:30 p.m. start Sunday. Both matches will be streamed via WBGU-TV (YouTube). BG has posted four shutouts against MAC foes for the first time since 1998, and the Falcons defeated both the Mountaineers and Huskies by identical 1-0 outcomes in the first meetings this season. The MAC regular-season champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The Falcons are 24-13-3 over the last 40 contests, dating to late in the 2018 season.
VOLLEYBALL (22-1)

The Falcons will return to the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday (April 14) for the first time since 2012, taking on the Weber State Wildcats. Bowling Green enters with a 22-1 standing after capturing both the MAC Regular Season and MAC Tournament Championships. The first opponent for the Orange and Brown will be Weber State, champions of the Big Sky Conference. The Wildcats will enter with an 18-1 record while being among the top 20 teams in the nation for aces per set. As for the Falcons, they'll be looking to tally the program's second NCAA Tournament victory all-time, previously topping Yale in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The appearance in the tournament is the third in program history, also playing in the 1991 NCAA Tournament. Bowling Green will also enter as just one of three teams in the nation with multiple 300-kill players, seeing both Katelyn Meyer and Petra Indrova north of the mark. The others to roster multiple 300-kill players are Texas State and Missouri State.Â
SWIMMING & DIVING

The BGSU swimming and diving team concludes the 2020-21 season this week at the Mid-American Conference Championships. The three-day meet begins Thursday and will be hosted by Eastern Michigan. The Falcons finished fifth a year ago at the meet and will look to improve upon that finish. Prelims begin at 10:30 am each morning with diving events taking place at 1:00 pm on Thursday and Friday. Final will begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, 6:00 pm on Friday and 6:10 pm on Saturday.Â
TRACK & FIELD

After a rare week off, the BGSU outdoor track and field team will head to Indiana State for the Gibson Invitational. The Falcons are in the stretch run before the MAC Championships and are looking to improve positioning and seeding. BGSU currently ranks atop the MAC in three events with Zaresha Neal leading the discus and Kaila Butler leading the hammer throw. The 1600 relay team is also No. 1 in the conference. The Falcons are ranked No. 2 or No. 3 in five other events as well.Â

The Bowling Green tennis program will have a pair of matches this upcoming weekend, facing Buffalo on Friday (April 16) and Western Michigan on Sunday (April 18). The match against Buffalo will be on the road and will mark the second against the Bulls. The Falcons won the first meeting with a 5-2 final score at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. As for the second match of the weekend, being against Western Michigan, that one will be back on the home courts for the Falcons. Bowling Green and Western Michigan previously faced in Kalamazoo in a match that ended in a 4-3 final, favoring WMU. Â

The Falcons continue a 10-game road swing with a four-game series at Ohio this weekend. BGSU and the Bobcats are scheduled to meet in single games Friday and Sunday and a doubleheader on Saturday. Last weekend, the Falcons dropped three of four games at Buffalo despite outhitting the Bulls by a 33-18 count in the four games. Nikki Sorgi hit .500 in the four games, going 5-for-10 with a team-leading four runs scored, while Peyton Dolejs went 3-for-6 with three runs scored in Saturday's doubleheader. Dolejs hit her first collegiate homer in the final game, a 5-4 BG win. Hannah Davies threw a complete-game three-hitter in that game to improve to 3-2 on the season. This season's massive 40-game MAC schedule sees BGSU slated to play each of the other 10 MAC teams four times each. The Falcons' remaining games include home series vs. Miami (April 30-May 1) and Kent State (May 14-16), and road trips to Ohio (this weekend) and Northern Illinois (May 7-9). The Falcons will play two midweek doubleheaders each vs. Toledo (away on April 20, home on April 28) and Western Michigan (home on May 4, away on May 12).

The Falcons take a 7-9 conference record into this weekend's four-game home series versus Miami University. The series opener is set for 3:05 p.m. on Friday (April 16) at Steller Field at Gary Haas Stadium. All four games will be streamed for free on YouTube. Bowling Green won the series opener at Central Michigan over the weekend by a score of 3-2. Andrew Abrahamowicz earned a complete-game victory. The right-hander was dominant over seven innings of one-run ball. Abrahamowicz nearly tossed a no-hitter, allowing just one hit on the afternoon. The senior struck out three and picked up his third win of the season.
WOMEN'S SOCCER (5-1, 5-1 MAC)

The Falcons host Ball State in the MAC Championship on Saturday evening, with first touch set for 7:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium. BGSU takes a 5-1-0 record into the contest, and the Falcons have outscored opponents by a 15-2 count, including 10-0 over the last three games. Saturday night's game is a rematch of the 2018 MAC Tournament Championship at Cochrane Stadium, when the Falcons and Cardinals played to a 1-1 draw before BGSU advanced past BSU via penalty kicks. Madi Wolfbauer has scored five goals over the last three matches, and she is the first Falcon with back-to-back multiple-goal games in over a decade (since Alyssa Zuccaro in September of 2010). Wolfbauer has a team-leading 10 points this season, while Kennedy White has seven and Katie Cox five. Cox has scored the game-winning goal in each of the last two matches, while goalkeeper Lili Berg and the BG defense have kept five clean sheets in six matches this spring. BGSU is 46-19-7 overall, 31-7-1 in MAC regular-season matches and 37-8-3 in all games vs. conference foes since the start of the 2017 season. Since the beginning of the 2018 campaign, the Falcons are 33-12-6 overall, 25-3-0 in MAC regular-season action and 29-3-2 in all games vs. league opposition.
