BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team was swept in a Saturday (May 8) doubleheader by the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. EMU won the first game, 6-5, before completing the weekend sweep with a 3-0 victory. The weekend Mid-American Conference series was played at Steller Field at Gary Haas Stadium.

The Bowling Green bats were held silent in the night cap, but freshman Peyton Wilson was a star on the mound, shoving seven dominant innings. Wilson allowed just one unearned run on six hits. The right-hander did not issue a free pass. Wilson recorded two punch outs.
Â
The Falcons scored three runs in the first inning in the first game of the day – as Kyle Gurney scored two with a single and Jack Krause plated another on a sacrifice fly – but EMU scored six of the game's final eight runs to complete the comeback. Gurney and Andy Gaytan each posted two hits in the game. Dylan Dohanos went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. Mason Montgomery went 1-for-3 for the Orange and Brown.
Â
Following today's action, Bowling Green drops to 11-18 in MAC play, while Eastern Michigan improves to 11-14. The Falcons are set to open a four-game Battle of I-75 series on Friday (May 14) at 7 p.m. The series opener is taking place at the Mud Hens' Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo. Tickets are on sale (link below and on the baseball page at BGSUFalcons.com).
COACH HALLOCK QUOTE
"We stayed in the fight both games today and gave ourselves a chance to win. Gage Schenk and Peyton Wilson both gave us good starts in each game. They battled, found a rhythm and rolled some clean innings to keep the flow moving the way we want it on that side of the ball. Will MacLean was solid in his stint, as well.Â
"We need a good week of practice and have work to do before we head up the road to play Toledo next weekend."
