Bowling Green Welcomes Murray State to Doyt Perry Stadium for Homecoming

Saturday is Homecoming at The Doyt
• Bowling Green State University returns home to host Murray State on Saturday for Homecoming.
• Kickoff against the Ohio Valley Conference foe is 5 p.m.

Bowling Green vs. Murray State
• Bowling Green hosts Murray State for the second time in series history. The Falcons hold a 1-0 all-time record against the Racers after winning 48-7 during the only other previous meeting in 2013 at Doyt Perry Stadium.
• Travis Greene tallied the second 100-yard rushing game of his career the last time these teams met.
• Bowling Green's 660 yards of total offense were the most since finishing with 666 yards against Western Michigan on Nov. 6, 2004.
• Matt Johnson's completion percentage of 86.4 (19-of-22) was the fifth-best in a single game in BGSU history. It is now the sixth-best single-game output in program history.
• Murray State is the first FCS opponent since Bowling Green hosted Morgan State in the 2019 season opener, which was the first game of the Scot Loeffler era.

• LB Darren Anders is the only player in the nation this season with 20+ tackles (22), one interception, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and one sack. He recorded his first career interception against South Alabama last time out and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown. He currently ranks No. 9 in the nation and No. 2 in the MAC with 11.0 tackles per game.
• QB Matt McDonald notched a career-high 308 passing yards against South Alabama. It was the first time in his career he passed for 300+ yards in a game. His 495 passing yards this season ranks No. 1 in the MAC. His 308 passing yards were the most of any MAC quarterback in Week No. 2 and was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
• TE Christian Sims notched a career-high eight catches for a career-high 76 receiving yards. Sims nearly doubled his career total in receptions last time out against South Alabama. Entering the game, he had nine career receptions.
• S Davon Ferguson tied his career high with 11 tackles last time out against South Alabama. He also notched 11 tackles last year against Oklahoma State while playing at Kansas. He is No. 13 in the nation and No. 2 in the MAC with 6.5 solo tackles per game.
• TE Andrew Bench scored a touchdown on his first career reception against South Alabama. Bench, who moved to tight end from the defensive line during the offseason, caught a McDonald pass for a 33-yard scoring strike.
Osborne Becoming a Key Target
• WR Austin Osborne made eight catches in his Bowling Green debut at Tennessee. Osborne, a transfer from Washington, entered the 2021 season with one career reception. He was high school teammates with Bowling Green quarterback Matt McDonald at Mission Viejo High School in Southern California.
• Osborne followed up his BGSU debut with seven catches against South Alabama.
• Osborne is No. 11 in the nation and No. 1 in the MAC with 7.5 receptions per game.
More Career Highs Came in the South Alabama Game
• Four Falcons recorded career highs in either receptions, receiving yards, long reception, or all three against South Alabama.
• TE Christian Sims had a career-high eight receptions on a career-high 76 yards and his 51-yard reception in the third quarter was a career long.
• WR Tyrone Broden made his season debut and caught three passes for 76 yards and had a 47-yard reception. All were career bests.
• RB Taron Keith had career highs in catches (2), receiving yards (55) and long reception (44) as well against South Alabama.
