THE OPENING TIP – STREAKS, STORYLINES AND SIDEBARS
• The Falcons are looking to bounce back after an 80-51 loss at Toledo on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 12). The Rockets led by five points after one quarter and 12 points at the half, before pulling away after the intermission.
• The Falcons' last home game saw BG post an 81-52 win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday night (Feb. 9). The 29-point margin of victory was BGSU's largest home win over a MAC opponent in the Robyn Fralick Era.
• For what it's worth, BGSU is 7-2 in weekday games this season. The Falcons are 5-1 in such contests during MAC play (1-0 on Monday and 4-1 on Wednesday), and BG has won five-straight weekday games.
• Prior to the Toledo game, three Falcons – Elissa Brett, Kadie Hempfling and Amy Velasco – all were tied for the team scoring lead in MAC games. All three scored eight points on Saturday, so the trio still remains deadlocked. Brett, Hempfling and Velasco each have scored exactly 141 points (11.8 per game) in conference contests.
• Madisen Parker broke a school record last Wednesday vs. NIU, as she played in her 136th career game as a Falcon. She has now played in 137 total games, breaking the mark of 135. That record had been shared by Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska and Jen Uhl, all of whom played from 2007-11.
• BGSU is 20-10 in MAC regular-season games since the start of the 2020-21 season, after going 8-46 in the previous three seasons (2017-18 to '19-20). That 20-10 record includes a 12-4 mark at the Stroh and an 8-6 ledger in league road games.
• Parker is moving up another BGSU career list. She has made a total of 228 three-point field goals in her career, good for fourth place on that BGSU list. Parker's next target is Tracy Pontius (2007-11), who hit 235 treys in her storied Falcon career.
• The Falcons set a Stroh Center record on Wednesday, shooting 63.6% from three-point range in the win over NIU. BGSU went 14-for-22 from the arc, and broke the old mark of 57.9% (11-of-19), set by the Falcons on Nov. 29, 2011, vs. Western Kentucky.
• As a team, the Falcons have made at least one three-point field goal in 540 consecutive games over the last 17 years. That is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation.
• Kadie Hempfling has now started 110 career games at BGSU, tying her for seventh place on that school list. She has a shot to move into the top-five in school history in that category by the end of the regular season.
• Hempfling is also ranked on the BGSU career lists for scoring (26th), rebounding (12th) and assists (sixth). Parker has broken into the top 40 on the BG career scoring chart, and currently ranks 38th.
• Entering Monday's game, Morgan Sharps leads the MAC – and is second in the nation – in three-point field-goal percentage. She has hit 47.2% of her long-distance shots this season.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE REDHAWKS
• Miami is 8-14 on the season, and the RedHawks have a 4-9 record in MAC play. MU has won two of the last four games, and scored a season-high 90 points in Saturday's win (90-77) over Central Michigan. The RedHawks are 5-7 at home and 3-7 on the road this season to date. In conference play, MU is 3-5 in Oxford and 1-4 at hostile venues.
• Peyton Scott leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, with 19.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest. She also has a team-best 3.9 assists per outing. Ivy Wolf and Edyn Battle have 11.1 and 10.3 ppg, respectively. Head coach DeUnna Hendrix and the RedHawks have already doubled last year's overall win total, as the 2020-21 team went 4-20 overall and 3-17 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Miami, 54-34, in the all-time series, and BGSU has captured the last three meetings. In last season's two matchups, the Falcons captured a narrow 71-66 victory at the Stroh (Dec. 22, 2020) and a 35-point triumph (87-52; Jan. 23, 2021) in Oxford. Miami had won six-straight meetings prior to BG's current three-game series winning streak. BGSU is 25-16 in home games, 23-17 in road contests and 6-1 in neutral-site events vs. the RedHawks over the years.
• More information on the BGSU-MU series can be found on page 22.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the Miami game, the Falcons head to Kalamazoo for a Wednesday (Feb. 16) matchup with Western Michigan, with tipoff at 7:00 p.m. at University Arena.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will face Ohio on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 19), and it will be Senior Day at the Stroh.
