MASK UP!

This includes fans, media (including radio, TV and web-stream broadcasters) and staff.
• If individuals are unwilling to wear masks, they are encouraged not to attend games in person for the sake of their health and the health of others. Additionally, fans and media should stay home if feeling ill, showing any symptoms of COVID-19, or think they may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
THE OPENING TIP – STREAKS, STORYLINES AND SIDEBARS
• Wednesday night is the Falcons' annual Pink/Play4Kay game in support of breast cancer awareness, with fans encouraged to wear pink to the game. It will also be Girls and Women in Sports Night, as we celebrate girls and women in sports.
• The Falcons face Northern Illinois for the second time in as many Wednesdays. Last week (Feb. 2), BGSU ended the game on a 12-1 run, posting a 64-54 victory over the Huskies in DeKalb.
• Madisen Parker is poised to break a school record on Wednesday night. She has played in a total of 135 games as a Falcon, tying the BGSU mark. The next time Parker takes the floor, she will break the record she currently shares with three former Falcons – Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska and Jen Uhl.
• Freshman Amy Velasco scored 21 points for the second time in as many Saturdays, leading the Falcons in scoring at Ball State (Feb. 5). Velasco scored a career-high 21 in the Toledo game (Jan. 29) before matching it seven days later vs. the Cardinals.
• Despite a 91-80 loss to the Cards, BGSU is 19-9 in MAC regular-season games since the start of the 2020-21 season, after going 8-46 in the previous three seasons (2017-18 to '19-20). That 19-9 record includes an 11-4 mark at the Stroh and an 8-5 ledger in league road games.
• Parker is moving up another BGSU career list. She has made a total of 226 three-point field goals in her career, good for fourth place on that BGSU list. Parker's next target is Tracy Pontius (2007-11), who hit 235 treys in her storied Falcon career.
• As a team, the Falcons have made at least one three-point field goal in 538 consecutive games over the last 17 years. That is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation.
• Kadie Hempfling has now started 108 career games at BGSU, good for eighth place on that school list. She has a shot to move into the top-five in school history in that category by the end of the regular season.
• Hempfling is also ranked on the BGSU career lists for scoring (26th), rebounding (12th) and assists (sixth). Parker has broken into the top 40 on the BG career scoring chart.
• Entering Wednesday's game, Morgan Sharps leads the MAC – and is fourth in the nation – in three-point field-goal percentage. She has hit 46.5% of her long-distance shots this season.
• BGSU is scheduled to play a lot of games during the year's shortest month. The Falcons are slated to play 10 games in a 25-day span during February. Beginning Saturday (Feb. 12), BG plays six contests in 12 days.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE HUSKIES
• Northern Illinois is 9-11 on the season, and the Huskies are 6-6 in MAC play. NIU has won five of the last seven games, including Sunday afternoon's 80-70 victory over MAC preseason favorite Ohio. The Huskies are 6-3 at home, 3-7 on the road and 0-1 at neutral sites to date. In MAC play, NIU is 3-3 in DeKalb and 3-3 in hostile venues.
• Chelby Koker leads the team in scoring, with 17.8 points per game, but has missed the last two games due to injury. A'Jah Davis and Janae Poisson have 15.8 and 12.7 ppg, respectively, and Davis has a team-leading 11.8 rebounds per game. Head coach Lisa Carlsen welcomed back 10 letterwinners, including all five starters, from a 2020-21 club that went 12-12 overall and 10-8 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead NIU, 25-20, in the all-time series, and BGSU won the most recent meeting, which occurred last Wednesday (Feb. 2). Last season, NIU picked up a 78-71 win at the Stroh Center (Jan. 9, 2021) and a wild, 79-78 triumph in DeKalb (Feb. 2, 2021). BG's last win over NIU at the Stroh was a 65-59 victory seven years ago (Jan. 14, 2015).
