BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball program played in the team's highest scoring game of the season thus far on Friday (April 15) against Central Michigan at Steller Field. The Falcons fought through the game, scoring 11 runs, but came up on the short end of the 18-11 final. Nathan Archer led the offensive charge for Bowling Green, registering three home runs for the Orange and Brown with three RBI. Kyle Gurney chipped in a home run while Adam Fallon had a triple and three RBI of his own.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Central Michigan scored the first run of the game on a passed ball in the top of the second inning.
Bowling Green quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning. A double off the bat of Tyler Ross scored Adam Furnas to even the score at 1-1.
The Chippewas reclaimed the lead in the top of the third with a five-run inning. A solo home run sparked the burst that included a run on an error, an RBI double and a two-run home run.
Central added to their tally in the fourth with a three-run double followed by a single later in the inning to make it 10-1.
Nathan Archer responded for the Falcons, blasting a two-run home run to right field to cut into the deficit at 10-3.
Central got one run back in the top of the fifth on a double steal.
In the bottom half of the fifth, Kyle Gurney blasted a home run off the scoreboard in right field, a two-run shot to cut into the lead at 11-5.
Three runs crossed in the top of the sixth for CMU on two home runs. The first a solo home run followed by a two-run trip to make it 14-5.
Archer once again responded on behalf of the Falcons with a home run that not only cleared the scoreboard in right field, but the trees as well to make it 14-6.
After a Jack Krause double later in the inning, Adam Fallon brought Krause home with a single to center, making it 14-7 CMU.
Nathan Rose added another to the tally with a bases loaded sacrifice fly to center, scoring Fallon, ending the sixth at 14-8.
Central once again responded with two more runs in the top of the seventh to push the score to 16-8.
In the bottom half, Fallon stepped into the box with two on and delivered a triple to left field to push across both Archer and Ryan Johnston before scoring himself on a wild pitch to make it 16-11 Falcons.
The Chippewas tallied two in the eighth to extend their lead to 18-11, the eventual final.

FALCON STAT FACTS

With two home runs and three total hits, Nathan Archer has now reached base in 11 straight games for the Falcons. Archer now has three home runs in the last four games for BGSU.
Adam Fallon stole two bases for the Falcons, extending his team lead to 15 swipes on the base paths. Fallon also tied his season-high for RBI in a game with three.
Kyle Gurney has now homered in back-to-back games for Bowling Green. Gurney also has six RBI over the last four games.

The Falcons and Chippewas will continue their series on Saturday (April 16) with a doubleheader. The first game is set for a 12:05 p.m. first pitch with Senior Day festivities taking place prior to the game.
