Saturday's Senior Day Headlines BGSU's Weekend Against First Place Chippewas
April 14, 2022 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball program will start a two-week homestand this weekend, when the Central Michigan Chippewas come to Steller Field for a four-game series. Central Michigan will visit Bowling Green standing atop the MAC Standings and have won nine straight games.
The Falcons are coming off a series split against Kent State in Kent last weekend. BGSU took the first two and the Golden Flashes rebounded to win the final two. Each of the four games was close and hard-fought, as the series included two one-run games and one two-run game. That means six straight games for the Falcons have been decided by four or fewer runs.

Their last action was a 21-8 win against Oakland, and their last MAC play was a four-game sweep of Northern Illinois.
Against Central Michigan All-Time
The all-time series leans to Central Michigan with BGSU having an all-time record of 47-78-1 against the Chippewas. The first matchup between these two was in 1971, when the Chippewas won 7-6 in 10 innings. Last season's matchup was a closely fought three-game series in Mount Pleasant. The Falcons won the first game 3-2, but the Chippewas came back, winning the next two games 1-0 and 5-1.
Quick Facts
Last Time Out
The Falcons played four close games against Kent State their last time out. Game one of the series was a 9-5 Falcons win. Every Falcon with an at-bat got a hit in that game, six of them having multi-hit performances. Home runs from Jack Krause, Adam Furnas, and Justin Fugitt powered the offense, while excellent pitching from Gage Schenk (6.2 IP, 1 ER, 5 K) kept the Golden Flashes from matching the Falcons' scoring.
In game two, both Furnas and Adam Fallon had three hits, while Nathan Rose had three RBI. They helped the Falcons get the lead, which set up Griffin Parrill to shut things down. He threw two perfect innings for the Falcons out of the bullpen and picked up the save in the process, leading the Falcons to a 6-4 win.
The next two games came down to the wire, as Kent State picked up two straight walk-off wins. Nevertheless, the Falcons were highlighted by strong performances, including Isaiah Seidel (4.1 IP, 0 R) in game three of the series and Kyle Gurney (4-for-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI) in the series finale. Game three of the series was a 10-inning 5-4 Golden Flashes win, and the series finale was 4-3 in Kent State's favor.
