Austen Swankler Named CCHA Forward of the Week

Sophomore scores six points in series sweep of Lake Superior State
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association has recognized four student-athletes as its Players of the Week for the previous week of competition. Bowling Green's Austen Swankler was named CCHA Forward of the Week after recording six points in the series sweep of Lake Superior State. He tallied a pair of assists in the Friday game before logging a career-high four points in Saturday's contest.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Austen Swankler, Sophomore, Bowling Green
Austen Swankler continued his hot streak with a six-point weekend that helped Bowling Green earn six points in the conference standings. The sophomore had two assists in the first game against LSSU, the first coming on a power play goal and the second on Ben Wozney's first career goal. The following night, he had a career-best four points. He tallied an assist in the first three goals by the Falcons before scoring a buzzer-beating empty net goal. Swankler ranks second in the nation with 34 points and has recorded a point in his last 14 games. During this streak, he has 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points. He is the only player in the country with 15 goals and more than 15 assists.

This is the 11th time the Falcons have had a player earn a weekly or monthly honor, eclipsing the total of 10 from the 2021-22 campaign. Swankler has been named CCHA Forward of the Week twice, CCHA Forward of the Month once, and HCA Player of the Month once. He joins Christian Stoever as the only Falcons with multiple weekly awards this season.
