Falcons Set For 20 Home Games, Including Battle Of I-75
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team and Head Coach Kyle Hallock announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024 schedule. The Falcons will be embarking on their fourth season under Coach Hallock after going 20-30 a year ago with a 13-17 standing within the Mid-American Conference. The 2024 schedule is set to see 24 non-conference games, against 11 different non-conference opponents, and 30 conference contests for a total of 54 games this season.Â
The Falcons first home game is set for March 22, the first game of a three-game series against Akron. BGSU will then be on the road again until April 10 for a midweek home game against Purdue Fort Wayne, starting a stretch of nine home games over a 10-game stretch in the month of April. In total, Bowling Green is set for 20 home games, including the final series of the regular season against Toledo on May 16-18 with the Fifth Third Field game scheduled for May 19.
Coach Hallock on the 2024 Schedule:
"Our 2024 schedule will be a good mix of opponents and a variety of styles to compete against. Early on we will open up against solid programs in Middle Tennessee State University and Memphis. Right before MAC play we will have the opportunity to compete against nationally-ranked Tennessee, who made a deep run at Omaha last year. The bye week opponent is Xavier and they are coming off a good season in which they made it to the Nashville Regional Final. Our conference schedule will provide a great opportunity to see marquee series' both at home and on the road. Midweek games against Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan State and members of the Horizon League will allow us to stay sharp between conference opponents. As always, our weekend series with Toledo will allow us to play at Fifth Third Field and that experience is second to none. The MAC Tournament's expansion back to six teams and return to Avon is going to provide a lot of excitement down the stretch in the month of May."
The Non-Conference Schedule
The season for the Falcons will begin with three straight series in the state of Tennessee. The 2024 campaign will start in Murfreesboro, Tenn. with a trio of games against Middle Tennessee State on Feb. 16-18. From there, the Orange and Brown will transition to taking on Memphis on Feb. 23-25. The Tennessee tour to kickoff 2024 will wrap up in Knoxville from March 1-3 against the Volunteers who were eliminated from the College World Series by the eventual National Champions, LSU, a season ago.Â
With the conference season beginning on March 8, the non-conference schedule will shift to midweek matchups. The Falcons will compete in home-and-home series against Dayton, Youngstown State, Oakland and Purdue Fort Wayne over the course of the season. Bowling Green will also travel to face a handful of opponents, including Notre Dame (March 26), a weekend series against Xavier (March 28-30), Ohio State (April 9) and Michigan State (April 16). The Falcons will also host Toledo in a non-conference game on April 30.
The MAC Schedule
The Mid-American Conference slate will start for the Falcons on March 8-10 with a series in Oxford, Ohio against the Miami RedHawks. The conference schedule continues on March 15-17 at Ball State before the first home MAC series of the season, hosting the Akron Zips on March 22-24.
After the bye week from conference play, filling it with a trip to face Xavier, the Falcons will hit the road again, this time heading to face Northern Illinois to kick off the month of April in the MAC (April 5-7). BGSU will be back at Steller for two series, hosting Central Michigan (April 12-14) and Ohio (April 19-21) before wrapping up the month of April in Kent, Ohio with a series against the Golden Flashes (April 26-28).Â
The month of May in the MAC will start with Western Michigan visiting Bowling Green on May 3-5. The Falcons will then transition to Eastern Michigan for a series on May 10-12 before concluding the regular season at home with the Battle of I-75 on May 16-18. The MAC Tournament is set for May 22-25.Â
