Track and Field Opens Indoor Season At Home With Tom Wright Open

Falcons host Cleveland State and Ball State on Saturday afternoon
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- The Bowling Green Falcons track and field program will open their 2023-24 indoor season this weekend, hosting Ball State and Cleveland State in the Tom Wright Open on Saturday, December 9. Field events begin at 12 p.m. and running events will begin at 1 p.m. all events in Perry Field House.
Tom Wright Information
The Tom Wright Open, will be held in Perry Field House on Saturday, December 9th with events starting at 12 p.m. Tom Wright was a three-time All American as a student-athlete and coached nine All-Americans, graduated from BGSU in 1966 with is bachelor's and master's in 1967. Wright was inducted into the Bowling Green State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
Field events start at 12 p.m., with the shot put, weight throw, and high jump kicking the meet off. Following will be the long jump at 12:30 and the last field event being the triple jump at 2:15 p.m. Running events will begin at 1:00 p.m. with preliminary races in the 60m and 60m hurdle, to follow will be the 600m and 400m. At 2:00 p.m., will be the 60m hurdle final and to follow the 60m dash final. At 2:20 p.m., the 3,000m will take place and to follow at 2:40 p.m., will be the 200m. The Tom Wright Open will conclude with the 4x400m relay at 3:00 p.m.

Breaking Down Bowling Green
The Falcons have a mixture of accomplished returners and newcomers on the 2023-24 indoor roster. Kaliee Perry, Darian Braddix, Izzy Best, and Katerina Shuble all return after winning the distance medley relay at the 2023 MAC Championships and holding the second-best time in school history (11:33.86). Shuble holds the second all-time BGSU record in the mile (4:49.00 and 4:51.47) while Kailee Perry holds the third all-time record (4:51.47). Kailee Perry also holds the 3K record (9:35.88) and Katerina Shuble holds the second all-time record (9:36.09). DaMya Barker will begin her sophomore campaign after having an impressive freshmen season. Baker ran the team's fastest 60 hurdles time of the season at the MAC Championships (8.71), which ranks her at fifth in school history. Sabrina Imes begins her sophomore campaign after recording the fourth best high-jump in BGSU indoor history, in 2022 (40-0). The throws group, welcomes back Grace Bradtmueller, Lane Anderson, Kami Baker, Reagan Emberton, and Mateya Haintz. Pentathletes Jenna Lucas and Katherine Mendenhall are set to compete in the Orange and Brown. As are sprinters Alexsia Davis, Ashley Kisor, Jemeila Hunter, Tianna Mulligan. Rounding out the group are sprints/jumps Alexis Parchman and Bianca Staples and Morgan Patterson with sprints/hurdles/jumps.
Bowling Green has ten newcomers on this year's roster, four of the newcomers being members of the cross-country team that competed this fall. Other freshmen that will compete for the first time in their collegiate career include Kiera Bonds, Sydney Burrs, Reagan Campbell, Jaden Carey for sprints/jumps, and throwers Payton Logan and Ava Wojciechowski.
