Assistant captain earns amateur tryout with Chicago affiliate after recording career-high 11 points
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green Hockey defenseman Max Coyle has signed an amateur tryout (ATO) contract with the Indy Fuel, the ECHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Coyle, a native of Tillsonburg, Ontario, was an assistant captain for the Falcons this season, recording a career-best line of three goals and eight assists for 11 points.
Coyle had a career-best three goals this season, including the game-winning goal against Bemidji State on Jan. 14. This marked his first career-game winning goal and helped the Falcons secure their sixth consecutive win. The senior also had eight assists, including a pair of two-assist games. He had two assists in an overtime loss to Minnesota State, with the second coming on a shorthanded goal by Quinn Emerson. Facing Michigan Tech the following weekend, he assisted on another shorthanded goal, scored by Taylor Schneider, before assisting on a Jaden Grant power play tally that clinched a 6-1 BGSU win.
Coyle tied for 10th on the team and third among defensemen with 11 points. He was also 10th on the team in assists and was the only blue-liner with multiple two-assist games. Coyle blocked 41 shots, ranking fourth on the team and 24th in the CCHA. He concludes his collegiate career with four goals and seven assists for 21 points in 127 games. He also totaled 127 penalty minutes. Coyle is the second Falcon defensemen to join the Fuel, the first being Zach Vinnell, who was regularly paired with Coyle on the back end.
