Falcons to End 2022-23 Season at National Invite Championships and Diving Zones

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team both compete this week at different events. Four divers qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones and 12 swimmers for the National Invite Championships. The Falcons will have divers compete at NCAA Diving Zones March 9th and 10th in Bloomington, Indiana. Meanwhile, the Falcon swimmers will compete from March 9th through the 11th in Elkhart, Indiana.
Swimmer Showcase
The Falcons are coming off of an eighth-place finish at MAC Championships. The Falcons were highlighted by a strong performance by Elayna Krupp. Krupp was the only swimmer to qualify for two championship finals where she finished fifteenth in both the 50 and 100 Free. Krupp secured these finishes and points with times of 23.37 and 51.28 respectively.
The 100 Breaststroke was the strongest event for the Falcon swimmers with two of the Orange and Brown placing in finals. Freshman Falcon paced the team with a twelfth-place finish and a time of 1:03.56. Then senior Taylor Harris finished close behind with a time of 1:03.89, good enough for fourteenth place finish.
The 200 Butterfly was another strong point for the Falcons. In her MAC Championships debut Grace Bodrock finished 13th with a time of 2:03.49. Fellow Falcon Fabiana D'Ambrogio rounded out the final's groups with a time of 2:04.25 and a sixteenth-place finish in the event. Ava Vial also had a strong showing finishing thirteenth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.77.
Diving Deeper
To qualify for the NCAA Championship at the different diving zones a diver has to finish in the top nine in the 3-Meter Dive and in the top ten in the 1-Meter Dive. Four Falcon flyers qualified in Rayah Blood, Elise Snyder, Grace Ellis and Evie Long.
This will be the second time in her career that Rayah Blood qualified for both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving Zones as she did last season. Blood finished 8th in the 1-Meter Dive and 10th in the 3-Meter Dive at MAC Championships. On the season Blood was named MAC Diver of the Week once and four event wins with two in each dive.
Like Blood Grace Ellis qualified for zones for the second straight season. Ellis qualified for the 1-Meter Diving Zones in Bloomington, Indiana. On the season Ellis won the 1-Meter Dive once on the season and finished in the top five three more times. Additionally, Freshman Evie Long also qualified for the 1-Meter Diving Zones.
Elise Snyder also qualified for zones for the first time in her collegiate career. She is coming off of a fifth-place finish in the 3-Meter Dive at Mac Championships and two event wins in the 3-Meter Dive over the course of the season. Snyder will be competing in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives.
