Pitt Edges Bowling Green on a Record-Breaking Night for the Falcons

PITTSBURGH – The Bowling Green gymnastics team competed tough, but fell at Pitt on Friday night, 195.800-195.225, at Fitzgerald Field House.
Kathryn Weilbacher tied the program record on vault with a perfect 9.950 on a 9.950 start value. She joins program legend Marny Oestreng and Jovannah East at the top of the list. Oestreng reached the score twice. The Falcons also set the program record for team vault score with a 49.250. Love Akpan's personal record of 9.900 on vault ties for No. 8 in program history. Madison Coburn added to the record score with a PR of 9.875.
Weilbacher's vault score is tied for the 18th-best score in the nation on the apparatus this season. It is also the second-best score in the MAC. The BGSU team vault score is the third-best tally in the MAC.
Weilbacher, Akpan and Coburn went No. 1-3 on vault. Isabella Rivelli tied for No. 1 on bars with a 9.850. Megan Bingham's 9.825 tied for No. 2 on beam for the meet. Akpan and Weilbacher tied for No. 3 on floor with a 9.875.
