Falcons Record First Shutout Of The Season, Topping Golden Flashes 10-0

Nathan Archer Enters Top 10 All-Time For Single-Season Runs
KENT, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team recorded their first shutout of the season with a 10-0 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes on Saturday (April 27). Despite a rain delay, the Falcons were able to capture the win, scoring seven runs in the first three innings and adding three more in the sixth after the rain delay. On the mound, Nic Good, Isaiah Seidel and Luke Krouse combined for the shutout, BGSU's first since May 18, 2023. The Falcons and Golden Flashes will return to the field on Sunday (April 28) for the rubber match with BGSU looking to punch their ticket to the MAC Tournament with a win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nathan Archer began the game by drawing a five-pitch walk. Garrett Wright and DJ Newman followed with singles to quickly load the bases for BGSU with no outs. Tyler Ross sent a sacrifice fly out to center, scoring Archer for the first run of the game.
- The rally continued with Jack Krause sending the next pitch to right for a single, bringing home Wright for a 2-0 Bowling Green advantage.
- The Falcons added to their lead with a two-out rally in the third. Leighton Banjoff was hit by a pitch to start followed by walks to Sam Seidel and Gavin Ganun to load the bases. TJ Takats drew another walk to force home Banjoff for a 3-0 BGSU lead. The run resulted in a pitching change for the Golden Flashes as well.
- Archer took the first pitch from the new Kent State hurler to right center for a single, scoring both Seidel and Ganun. Wright then ripped the second pitch from the new KSU pitcher to left center for a double, scoring Takats and Archer for a 7-0 BGSU lead.
- In the fifth inning, Nic Good worked out of a jam to keep the 7-0 score in place before the game entered a lightning delay.
- After the delay, Wright was hit by a pitch on the first pitch back. Walks to Newman and Krause loaded the bases. Banjoff sent a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Wright for an 8-0 lead.
- Krause stole second and Seidel walked to load the bases again. Ganun delivered a two-RBI single into left, scoring both Newman and Krause for a 10-0 BGSU advantage.

- The shutout for the Falcons is the first this season. The last time BGSU shutout a team was on May 18, 2023 with a 4-0 win over Toledo.
- Scoring twice in the game, Nathan Archer entered the top 10 all-time for runs scored in a single season. Archer has now touched home 52 times this season, tying Brandon Howard's 2018 campaign for 10th all-time.
- Archer drew a leadoff walk to begin the game, pushing his on-base streak to eight games. Archer has also scored in six of the last seven games for the Falcons.
- DJ Newman singled in his first at-bat of the day to push his hitting streak to 13 games for the Orange and Brown.
- Sam Seidel drew a walk in the third inning to push his on-base streak to 29 games, all of the games he's appeared in this year. Going back to last season, Seidel has reached in 40 consecutive games for Bowling Green.
- Jack Krause has now logged a hit in five consecutive games for the Falcons and has tallied at least one RBI in each game as well. The single extended his on-base streak to 26 games.
- Leighton Banjoff was hit by a pitch in the third inning to extend his on-base streak to 13 games.
- Garrett Wright continued a red-hot streak, logging the first hit of the game. Wright has now reached in eight straight games. During that stretch, Wright has logged multiple hits in five games.
- Wright was hit by a pitch twice for the second straight game. He's now been hit 15 times this season, the most for a Falcon since TJ Blanton was hit 15 times in 2010.
- BGSU has now scored 10+ runs in 18 of their 36 games this season and have eclipsed 7+ runs in 26 games.
