ROAD WARRIORS
• The Falcons are racking up the frequent flyer miles during the month of November, as BGSU opens the 2025-26 season with six consecutive games away from home.
• The Falcons played (and won) the season opener in the state of Louisiana, then faced #2/2 South Carolina last Friday (Nov. 7). After facing Wisconsin on Wednesday (Nov. 12), the Orange and Brown will meet Marquette before ending the road odyssey with a trip to Alaska for the Great Alaskan Shootout.
• BGSU's regular-season home opener is Sunday, Nov. 30, when Purdue Fort Wayne comes to the Stroh Center.
DONAHUE IS DOMINANT
• Sophomore Johnea Donahue had one of the best games of her young career on Wednesday night (Nov. 12) at Wisconsin. The guard set career bests in both points and assists, and stuffed the stat sheet in several other categories as well.
• Donahue led all players in scoring (24), rebounding (six – tied for game honors with Taya Ellis), assists (six) and steals (six). She went 8-for-16 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
• Through three games this season, she is averaging 4.67 steals per game, which leads the MAC and ties her for 10th in the entire nation.
KOHLER NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-MAC TEAM
• Junior Paige Kohler was named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-Mid-American Conference First Team, which was determined via voting by the league's 13 head coaches.
• Kohler, a native of Olmsted Falls, Ohio (Olmsted Falls), earned All-MAC Honorable mention last season, and also was named to both the Academic All-MAC Team and the Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators. The guard started all 31 games, and averaged 35.0 minutes per contest. She finished second on the Falcons in both scoring and rebounding, with 13.6 points and 4.6 boards per game.
• Kohler made a team-leading 76 three-point field goals last winter, shooting 36.7% from the arc. She averaged 3.58 steals and had a 1.82 assist/turnover ratio, ranking second on the Falcons in both areas. Kohler was second in the entire MAC in both minutes per game and three-pointers made per game (2.5).
• In her first two seasons at BGSU (plus three games), Kohler has compiled impressive totals of 802 points, 285 rebounds, 235 assists and 121 three-point field goals made. She is currently ranked on the BGSU career lists for points per game (13th, 12.34), assists per game (seventh, 3.62), three-pointers made (T-20th) and three-pointers made per game (sixth, 1.86).
• Kohler has been in the starting lineup for all 65 of BGSU's games since she arrived on campus.
BGSU TABBED FOR SIXTH
• The Falcons were picked to finish sixth in the conference in 2025-26, according to the league's preseason poll, which was the result of voting by the head coaches.
• Kent State was the choice of the coaches to win the MAC regular-season crown in '25-26. The Golden Flashes received 133 points and five of the 13 first-place votes. Toledo garnered 118 points and two first-place votes, followed by MAC newcomer Massachusetts (115 points, three first-place votes), Ball State (112, three), Central Michigan (105) and the Falcons (101).
• The complete poll, as well as the Preseason All-MAC Team, can be found elsewhere in these notes.
LAST TIME OUT: FALCONS FALL AT UW DESPITE DONAHUE'S MONSTER GAME
• Johnea Donahue had a tremendous all-around game on Wednesday night (Nov. 12), but the Falcons fell, 90-78, to Wisconsin inside the Kohl Center.
• Donahue, a sophomore, set career highs in both points and assists against the Badgers. She had 24 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals on Wednesday, going 8-of-16 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. As a team, the Falcons (1-2) were 20-of-22 from the stripe for a 90.9 percent success rate.
• Junior Paige Kohler scored 18 points, while senior Kaia Woods had 12 points in her BGSU debut.
• But, the Badgers (3-1) shot 54.5% from the floor on the night, going 36-for-66. And, the hosts made 10 three-point field goals in the win.
• The Falcons had a 37-35 lead on the boards, with junior Taya Ellis tying Donahue for game honors with six caroms.
• Kyrah Daniels had 21 points to pace six Badgers in double digits. Daniels was 5-of-8 from the arc.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
• Marquette is 2-1 on the young season. After opening the season with home wins over Winthrop and Wisconsin, the Golden Eagles suffered a loss to Minnesota in Tuesday night's (Nov. 11) road opener.
• Three of the team's five starters are scoring in double digits, led by Jaidynn Mason with 15.0 points per game. Mason also has 5.0 rebounds per game, while Skylar Forbes has 14.7 ppg and a team-high 3.3 assists per outing. Head coach Cara Consuegra welcomed back 12 players, including all five starters, from a 2024-25 team that went 21-11 overall and 12-6 in the Big East Conference.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Marquette, 2-0, in the all-time series, and BGSU has picked up a pair of two-point victories. The Orange and Brown won a 105-103 thriller in double overtime in the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Ind. (Dec. 20, 1992). Just under 32 years later (Dec. 18, 2024), BG posted a 64-62 victory over the Golden Eagles inside the Stroh Center. Players on the 2025-26 BGSU roster combined to score 37 points in that game, while players on this season's Marquette roster combined to score all 62 of the Golden Eagles' points.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the Marquette matchup, the Falcons will prepare for a pair of games in the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout. BGSU will open with a game against UC Irvine next Friday (Nov. 21), with tipoff set for 9:15 p.m. ET at the Alaska Airlines Center.
• The following evening, BGSU will meet either St. Thomas or the host school, Alaska-Anchorage. The third-place game begins at 9:15 p.m. ET, with the championship set for 11:30 p.m. ET. All games in the tourney will be streamed via the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Network.
