Falcons, Huskies Scheduled For 7 p.m. Tip For Black History Night
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will begin a three-game homestand on Tuesday (Feb. 4), hosting the Northern Illinois Huskies. The Falcons and Huskies are set for a 7 p.m. tip inside the Stroh Center. The game will be Black History Night and will be broadcasted on ESPN+. Additionally, Todd Walker will have the radio call on WFRO Eagle 99.
Opening Tip
The Falcons and Huskies will be meeting for the 72nd time in program history with BGSU holding the all-time advantage with a record of 40-31. The all-time series leans to the Falcons when hosting Northern Illinois with a record of 25-13, including wins in the last three meetings at the Stroh Center. The game will feature two of the top four scorers in the MAC with BGSU's Marcus Johnson leading the conference, averaging 16.8 points per game, and NIU's Quentin Jones ranking fourth in the MAC with an average of 16.2 points. The game will mark the first of three consecutive home games for Bowling Green.

Johnson Leads MAC In Scoring
Heading into the week, Bowling Green's Marcus Johnson is currently leading the Mid-American Conference in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game through 21 contests. This year, Johnson has recorded double-digit points in 18 of Bowling Green's 21 games while also registering a team-high eight 20-point games. Additionally, Johnson is shooting 88.3-percent at the free throw line, tied for 33rd in the nation and first on the national leaderboard from the MAC given the NCAA's qualification requirements. As for MAC play, Johnson is fourth in the MAC, averaging 16.1 points per game. The last Falcon to lead the MAC in scoring for the overall season was Martin Samarco in 2006-07, averaging 20.0 points per game.
Scouting The Huskies
Northern Illinois heads into the week with a 5-16 record on the season while being 1-8 in MAC play. The lone conference win for the Huskies came against Ball State on Jan. 25 with a 76-66 final. NIU opened their season with back-to-back wins, topping Holy Cross College and Monmouth. Since then, they've gone 3-16. In addition to the Ball State win, NIU has also topped Benedictine by a score of 89-70 on Dec. 3 and East-West University in a 117-50 score on Dec. 30.

The Falcons and Huskies will be meeting for the 72nd time in program history with the Falcons holding the all-time advantage with a record of 40-31. As for hosting, BGSU is 25-13 against NIU when playing in Bowling Green. The Orange and Brown are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings against NIU, including wins in seven of the last eight. The last win for Northern Illinois in the series came in NIU's last trip to Bowling Green, taking an 86-78 final on Feb. 4, 2023, exactly two years to the date of this meeting.
Campbell Moves Up Program List
Javontae Campbell continued pushing up the program's all-time list for career steals. Now with 65, Campbell is tied for seventh on the list with Keith McLeod (2001-02) and Scott Thomas (2010-11). The next step will be sixth all-time, held by Anthony Henderson with 66 steals in 2013-14. His total and steals per game average (3.10) are both ranked fourth in the nation. At his current pace with 31 games on BGSU's schedule, Campbell is on pace to tally 96 steals during the regular season. The current BGSU single-season steals record is set at 82 by DeMar Moore in 1996-97. As for the MAC steals record, it's held by Ball State's Bonzi Wells with 103 during the 1997-98 campaign.
Felt Claims MAC Lead In Blocks
Jamai Felt tallied another multi-block game for the Falcons, recording three against Central Michigan. Felt has swatted at least one block in 10 straight games with a total of 24 over the 10-game stretch. As for MAC play, Felt has logged 23 blocks, averaging 2.6 per game with both his total and average leading the MAC during conference play. When looking at the season, Felt has totaled 33 blocks, which are tied with Ohio's AJ Clayton for the most in the MAC. Clayton has appeared in 18 games while Felt has played in 21, giving Clayton the slight edge in blocks per game with 1.8 over Felt's 1.6. Felt has also made an impact in rebounding, ranking eighth on the season with an average of 6.2 rebounds per game while averaging 7.4 rebounds in MAC play, ranking fourth in the conference.
Humphrey Working Towards 1,000
This season, Bowling Green has already had two players eclipse 1,000 career points with Trey Thomas and Derrick Butler. Entering the season, Marcus Johnson and Javontae Campbell had already reached the mark. Now, DaJion Humphrey is next on the list. After missing time due to an injury, Humphrey has returned to the lineup for the Falcons over the last four games, including a start against Kent State. Against Central Michigan, Humphrey tallied a season-high nine points and now has 956 for his collegiate career, leaving him 44 shy of reaching the career milestone. For his time as a Falcon, Humphrey is averaging 5.0 points per game with 10 games left in the regular season.
Srulovich Selected For Silver Waves
BGSU assistant Coach German Srulovich has been selected to the 2025 Silver Waves Media Future Head Coach Power Lunch. The most prestigious lunch in college basketball, last year's event featured 10 attendees who were named to Division I head coaching jobs following the 2023-24 season. Srulovich is one of 75 coaches selected to attend this year. The lunch will be held on April 3 in San Antonio, Texas during the Final Four. Now in his second season with Bowling Green, Srulovich has been part of head coach Todd Simon's staff for the last five years. Srulovich started as a special assistant to Simon at Southern Utah in 2020-21 before being promoted to director of operations, a role he served in until the staff's transition to BGSU.
