WHAT, WHEN & WHERE
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team wraps up a two-game homestand with a Wednesday-night (Jan. 21) matchup at the Stroh Center. Head coach Fred Chmiel and the Falcons host Ohio University in a 7:00 p.m. start.
• BGSU is in the midst of a three-game stretch in which the Orange and Brown face three of the top-four teams in the Mid-American Conference standings.
WHERE TO WATCH / LISTEN
• Wednesday's Ohio matchup – as is the case with all of BGSU's home games (and many road games as well) – will be streamed via ESPN+. Additionally, all 2025-26 games will have an audio stream, thanks to BG Falcon Media Sports.
STATS & SOCIAL MEDIA
• Links to audio, video and live stats for all 2025-26 games can always be found on the web at BGSUFalcons.com – both on the women's basketball schedule page and in the right column on the main page – on game day.
PK10 IS ONE. POINT. AWAY.
• Junior Paige Kohler enters Wednesday's Ohio game with a total of 999 career points at BGSU. Simple math would show that she needs just one point to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
• Kohler would be the 33rd player in program history to reach the millennium mark. And, if she scores one point or more on Wednesday, she would be tied for the seventh-fastest player in BG history to reach 1,000 points. The list of fastest Falcons to 1,000 points can be found on page 7 of these notes.
THE FALCONS VS. THE MAC
• Historically, the Falcons have been one of the top programs in the Mid-American Conference. Entering the Ohio game, BGSU has gone 472-277 (.630) in league regular-season games over the years. The Falcons have the second-highest winning percentage of all MAC institutions, and the second-most conference wins of all 13 programs.
• BGSU has won 15 MAC regular-season titles, which is tied for the highest total of any conference institution. And, the Falcons have won a league-best 11 MAC Tournament titles.
• BGSU leads the all-time series with all 12 conference foes, making the Falcons – obviously – the only team in the league with a winning record against every other school. BG also has the most overall victories and highest overall winning pct. of any league institution.
TOUGH CROWD
• The Falcons, as mentioned, are in the midst of a stretch in which BG plays three teams currently residing in the top-four of the MAC standings. Those three teams – Miami, Ohio and Massachusetts – enter Wednesday's action with a combined record of 16-2 in conference play.
• Last Saturday's opponent, Miami, is tied with Ball State atop the MAC with a 6-0 league ledger, while both Ohio and UMass are 5-1 in league action.
MOX!
• Senior Kendal Moxey led the Falcons in both scoring and rebounding in back-to-back games. Moxey had 16 points and 15 rebounds – the highest totals of her BGSU career – against Central Michigan (Jan. 3).
• Then, the following Saturday (Jan. 10), Moxey was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field en route to 15 points and eight rebounds in BG's 65-48 win at Northern Illinois. She scored 13 of those 15 points in the second half, including 10 in the fourth quarter alone.
• After amassing totals of 21 points and 19 rebounds (1.6 ppg and 1.5 rpg) over BGSU's first 13 games this season, Moxey has had 37 points and 25 boards (9.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg) in the last three games, having gone 14-of-17 (.824) from the field in that time.
GERKEN!
• Sophomore Lauren Gerken, after missing the final 21 games of last season due to injury, scored in double digits twice in the first 12 games this winter. But, she has hit double figures four times in the last five contests, including in each of the last three games.
• After making 14 three-point field goals in the first 14 games this season, Gerken has hit 10 long-distance shots over the last three contests. She is shooting an even 50 percent (10-of-20) from the arc during this three games.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE BOBCATS
• Ohio enters Wednesday's game with an overall record of 11-5, and the Bobcats are tied for third place in the MAC with a 5-1 league ledger. After seeing a five-game winning streak snapped with a narrow 71-68 loss at Kent State last Wednesday (Jan. 14), the 'Cats bounced back with a 66-62 win over Northern Illinois Saturday (Jan. 17). Ohio is 7-2 at home and 4-3 on the road this season to date.
• The Bobcats lead the MAC in three-pointers per game and steals, while ranking second in the conference in turnover margin.
• Bailey Tabeling leads the team with 13.5 points per game, while Bella Ranallo has 11.4 ppg. No fewer than seven other Bobcats have scored between 6.0 and 8.8 ppg to date. Tabeling has made 38 three-pointers this season, as a total of six players have drained at least 14 shots from the arc.
• Head coach Bob Boldon and the Bobcats have nearly doubled the win total for all of last season, as the 2024-25 team went 6-23 overall and 4-14 in MAC play.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Ohio, 61-34, in the all-time series, and BGSU has captured the last four meetings. Last season, the Orange and Brown picked up a 74-53 win in Athens (Jan. 15, 2025) and a 91-61 triumph at the Stroh Center (Feb. 26, 2025).
• BGSU has won six of the last eight meetings, after Ohio had taken the previous 11 games from 2015-20. Overall, the Falcons are 35-11 at home, 23-21 on the road and 3-2 in neutral-site meetings with Ohio over the years. More information can be found on page 26 of the PDF version of these very notes.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the Ohio contest, the Falcons will hit the road for a Sunday (Jan. 25) meeting with Massachusetts. That contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Mullins Center, and will be televised nationally via CBS Sports Network.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will return to the Stroh Center to host Akron next Wednesday (Jan. 28), with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m.
