Alexander comes to Bowling Green after having been the genreal manager and head coach of the Cleveland Barons Hockey Club (Junior A) since 1993. He was twice named the North American Hockey League Coach of the Year and has had five players drafted in the NHL and 67 go onto collegiate hockey. His record with the Barons was 235-195-22, while spending time on the Board of Governors in the NAHL as well as being a member of the Budget and Selection Committee.
In addition, Alexander was director and founder of the Cleveland Barons AAA Youth Program in 1994, which currently has seven youth teams with over 130 boys participating; served as head coach of the Celveland North Coast Barons, a member of the NAJHL Junior B League, from 1992-93; and was an assistant coach at St. Edward High School from 1990-92, helping the team capture the 1992 Ohio State High School Championship.
Alexander is a 1980 graduate of Bowling Green, earning a bachelor of science degree in business education with a minor in athletic coaching. The Windsor, Ontario, native earned four letters on the ice under coaches Ron Mason and Jerry York during his time as a Falcon. In the four years that Alexander played for the Falcons, the team captured three Central Collegiate Hockey Association Championships and earned three NCAA Tournament bids.
Alexander is married to the former Sandi Schiefler and he has one son, Jarrett.
