Women's Track & Field Signs Eight

Bowling Green State University head women's track coach Scott Sehmann has announced the signing of eight student-athletes to a national letter of intent, including three from the Ohio Division I state runner-up team at Cleveland Heights High School.
Tamika Dixon, Jensine Pernell and Alicia Taylor will all be Falcons this fall. Dixon ran relay legs on the fifth place 4x800, second place 4x200 and anchored the winning 4x400m relay with a 56.2 split for a final team time of 3:50.4. She is also a 5'6" high jumper. Pernell was a member of the 400 and 800m relay teams and finished second in the long jump with a mark of 18'11". She is also a hurdler and recorded times of 14.5 (100mH) and 43.9 (300mH). Taylor was also a member of the 400 and 800 relay teams and placed sixth in the 100m hurdles. She has a personal best of 14.3 in the short hurdles.
Ellen Alkire (Fort Wayne, IN/Homestead) was the Indiana state meet champion in 2000 in the girls 400m dash. She was clocked at 56.67 for one lap.
Nilisha Guy (Cleveland, OH/Rhodes) had personal bests of 11.9 in the 100m, 24.65 in the 200m and 56.24 in the 400m. She was unable to participate at 100% in the state finals in 2000 due to a mid-season back injury.
Jennifer Jenkins (Scott Depot, WV/Winfield) was the West Virginia state champion this past season in the pole vault. She holds the state record with a jump of 10'6".
Kerri McClung (Portland, IN/Jay County) was the Indiana state champion this past season in the shot put marking the second time during her high school career that she won the individual title. She had a best throw of 47'2" in 2000.
Kim Seaholm (Mentor, OH/Mentor) had personal bests of 58.8 in the 400m and 2:18.1 in the 800m.
"I believe we will benefit greatly as a program by the addition of these young ladies to our program," said head coach Scott Sehmann. "In the second year of working together as a staff, Cami Wells (head women's cross country and assistant women's track coach) and myself, we feel the program is well on its way to being an upper division team in the Mid-American Conference."
