Falcon Icers Head to Columbus for CCHA's First Round

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green will play #11 Ohio State in the first round of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs this weekend, March 12-14. The teams will meet at Value City Arena in a best-of-three-series at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, and at a time to be determined Sunday, March 14, if a third game is necessary.
The Falcons ended the regular season 11-16-9 overall and 9-13-6 in the CCHA, good enough for a ninth-place finish. The Buckeyes ended their regular season 21-15-0 overall and 16-12-0 in the CCHA, good enough for fourth place.
OSU was one of just two league teams to sweep the Falcons this year, winning 7-0 (Nov. 29) and 4-3 (Jan. 31), both at the BGSU Ice Arena. The Falcons hold the all-time edge vs. the Buckeyes, 86-52-4, including 53-19-2 at home. In Columbus the series is a little closer with the Falcons holding a 32-30-2 edge overall and are just 2-5 in Value City Arena.

Falcon Notes...
* BGSU recorded its first win of the season when not netting a power-play goal with its 6-4 victory at WMU on Thursday. BGSU was 0-for-4 on the power play. The Falcons are now 1-12-5 without a PPG and 10-4-4 when scoring a PPG.
* SR D'Arcy McConvey's picked up his 100th career point on BGSU's first goal Thursday at WMU. McConvey finished with 1-2--3 for the game and now has 31-71--102 in 151 career games McConvey becomes the 67th Falcon to record over 100 career points.
* For the 26th time this year, BGSU played in a game decided by two goals or less on Thursday at WMU. The Falcons have a school record nine ties, are 4-7 in one-goal games and 4-2 in two-goal games.
* The Falcons' 6-4 win at WMU on Thursday snapped an eight-game winless streak against the Broncos (0-7-1) over the past three years. The last BGSU win over WMU came Feb. 23, 2001 (4-2) and the last win in Kalamazoo for the Falcons was Oct. 23, 1999 (5-4).
* BGSU's nine CCHA wins this season are the most in the league since the 1999-2000 season (12). Also, the ninth-place finish is the highest since 2000-01 when the Falcons tied for ninth and became the lowest-seeded team to advance to the CCHA semifinals at Joe Louis Arena.
