Falcons Place Second At BGSU Quintangular

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team placed second with 224.5 points at the BGSU Quintangular Friday evening inside the Perry Field House. Cincinnati won the meet with 253 points, while Toledo (160.5), Youngstown State (153) and IPFW (59) also competed in the meet.
BGSU got of to a fast start with sophomore Jessica White capturing second-place in the 60-meter dash, with a school record tying time of 7.57. She was also a member of the 4x400 team that finished second with a time of 3:58.39.
Amber Walker and Nicole Standback continued the dominance in the sprints and hurdles for the Falcons. Walker finished first in the 200-meters with a time of 25.36, while Standback brought home top honors in the hurdles with a season-best 8.76.
Senior Melissa Krueger was the top Falcon performer in the middle-distance where she captured the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.56. Sophomore Lyndi Springer placed third in the 600-meters with a 1:40.13.
The Brown and Orange nearly stole the show in the distance events placing first in the mile-run and 5,000-meters, but also recorded three of the top four runners in the 3,000-meters. Kim Settle won the mile-run with a time of 5:15.37 and freshman Jamie Roflow was 32 seconds faster then the nearest competitor in the 5,000-meters with a time of 17:25.42. The trio of Nicole Suitor, Elise Gould and Andrea Pollack finished second through fourth in the 3,000-meters with times of 10:24.90, 10:29.35 and 10:33.82.
Sophomore Erica Wilson led the Falcons in the high jump with a mark of 1.70, finishing second.
Senior Kerri McClung captured first in the shot put with a mark of 15.12 meters, as well as finished third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.64 meters.
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, where they will compete in the CMU Triangular on Feb. 4. The meet is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
