Samarco Named MAC East Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Martin Samarco has just been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week according to the league office. Samarco earned the award for the second time this season after recording 27 points and five rebounds in a 71-60 loss to Florida State.
Samarco connected on seven three-pointers, a Coors Classic record, and helped the Falcons climb out of an early 12-0 deficit by pouring in 19 first-half points. His 27 points matched his career-high after he also posted 27 points in a loss to Bradley.
On the year he is averaging 20.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, both team-highs. He has gone over the 20-point mark four times this season and has led the team in scoring on six different occasions.
In the MAC Samarco ranks first in three-pointers made (27), second in scoring (20.4), sixth in three-point percentage (.458), seventh in free throw percentage (.818) and 15th in rebounding (5.4).
