Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's baseball game at Xavier University on Wednesday, which was originally scheduled for Warren Steller Field then moved to Cincinnati, has been cancelled. The cancellation is due to class conflicts with travel for nearly half the Falcon team. Final exams are also scheduled to begin next week at BGSU.
BGSU (23-11 overall, 7-5 in the Mid-American Conference West Division) will now not play until this Saturday-Sunday, April 30-May 1, when IPFW visits Bowling Green. It will mark a 10-day layoff for the Falcons since they last played (7-5 win vs. Dayton, April 20). The Falcons and Mastodons will play seven-inning doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's action begins at 1 p.m. while Sunday's games will start at 12 noon.
The good news is that Falcon skipper Danny Schmitz will get his chance at career victory No. 400 at home at Warren Steller Field. Schmitz' 15-year career record stands at 399-355-4. He would become the first Falcon coach in ANY SPORT to win 400 contests and just the eighth coach in MAC baseball history to reach that historic mark.
