Sigalet (Surrey, British Columbia) was selected in the fourth round of the 2005 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins back on July 30. He was the 100th overall pick of the draft, which was held in Ottawa, Ontario.
"This is an opportunity Jonathan has always wanted," said head coach Scott Paluch. "The Boston Bruins feel he is ready for the next jump and we wish him all the success at the next level."
This past season Sigalet played in 35 of 36 games for the Falcons. He was the second-leading defenseman in scoring with a career-high 16 points (3g, 13a). Of his 16 points, 15 came on the power play. He had a career-high three assists at Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 13 and scored his first goal of the season vs. Wayne State on Nov. 18. He had two PPGs and one GWG, all at Michigan State, on Dec. 3 in a 2-1 BGSU win. Sigalet had two three-game point streaks while registering a point in four of his final five games (0-5--5). He ended with 14 penalties and 36 PIM and was named to the CCHA's Scholar-Athlete Team with a 3.87 GPA in health science.
In his two years with BGSU he recorded six goals, 25 assists and 31 total points with 62 penalty minutes in 72 games.
