BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"I thought that they beat us in all phases of the game. They came with a purpose and I thought that they were just better. We got off to a little bit of a start and the next thing you know they got energy and played great. You know, they have had some really tough losses and we have had some good wins. I think their desire to compete had far out shown our desire to compete today and that is disappointing."
"I have said all along that this is a young team and today was certainly not a good day."
"Anybody can beat us, our team doesn't necessarily understand that yet, but our coaches certainly do."
"When it was a four point game and we threw it away twice that was the biggest part of the game. It was just very disappointing. The one thing we have to be is ultra-competitive and with each other."
What about the absence of Erik Marschall in the lineup?
"Erik Marschall's absence affected us a great deal, but having said that we were on our home court where we have won three games and other guys needed to step-up and we really didn't have anybody do that. We shot the ball poorly. Their inside, I don't want to say dominated, but you could. They dominated our inside and at the end of the day that was part of the difference. But the other difference was their perimeter- they drove right past us when they wanted to. This team [UCA] lost on a tough break at St. Bonaventure and their game with Ole Miss at UConn which went right down to the wire. Also they had a tough break at Mississippi Valley State which I am guessing they felt they should have won."
"Our team has to play hard every day. When we come out we can't just rely on a single players talent. We have to play every day for each other and play really hard. Today it kind of came with the week, we didn't have a hard week of practice. Guys weren't going as hard as they needed to go and it carries over into the game. We can't just say we're going to play in the game and wait for the game. It is process for the whole week and we didn't do it this week. It's what we have to do to get ready for Wright State. We have to play hard every day and come out and play for each other and play hard every game. We didn't do that tonight."
"We won our other three games by playing really hard defense and everyone was out there playing for each other. We just got away from that tonight and got beat."
UCA Coach Rand Chappell
"The guys have been working hard and they've prepared well enough to win. We haven't really played a bad game, but we've probably let a couple get away."
"We had a variety of guys step up and make play. That was the big thing, it was a team effort. From Marcus Pillow to Nate Bowie, to Fred Campbell, who did an unbelievable job defensively on Samarco. He really made him earn his points."
"What we talked about on him was no three's and no free throws, and we held him to 1 of 8 from the three-point line and he only made two free throws. We did a great job of limiting him."
