Carraiaga and Jordan Earn First Medals as Falcons

AKRON, Ohio - In the second day of Mid-American Conference Championship competition, the swimming and diving Falcons have added four medals and have moved into fourth place overall. On the day, BGSU saw 10 Top Ten finishers.
Junior Caroline Keating took the medal stand for the second time earning the bronze in the 200 Free. Sophomore Jennifer Wright placed 8th in the field of 16.
Sophomore Michael Carriaga brought home her first MAC medal in the 100 butterfly. Carriaga's 57.32 finish produced a bronze while senior Dana Schultz tied for fifth (57.39)
In the 100 Backstroke, freshman Sami Jordan was the youngest swimmer to place in the Top Three with a 57.54 mark. Fellow freshman Alisha Yee placed ninth.
The combination of Keating, Jessica Guinness, Jennifer Wright and Stephanie Buckner placed third in the 800 Freestyle Relay. Their time of 7:33.30 beat the pool record.
Other Top Ten finishes included Kimberly Albin's and Kara Ohngren's seventh and tenth place finishes in the 400 IM and a fourth in the 200 Medley Relay.
Bowling Green has placed five times in the past two days. Keating leads the Orange and Brown with three bronze medals.
Competition will conclude today with the awards ceremony beginning at approximately at 9:30 p.m.
